Half-Life: Alyx (2020)

The only VR game on this list and for good reason. This has the most accessibility options out of any VR game out there. On top of that, it has the same brilliant gameplay mechanics, writing, and level design as Half-Life 2. If you only play one VR game, make it this one.
Donkey Kong Bananza (2025)

The best game on the Switch 2 right now. Not only a great return for Donkey Kong, but also brings back the open ended collectathon gameplay from Mario Odyssey and adapts it around DK’s abilities.

One of Nintendo’s best games in a long time.

video game piracy is completely ethically justified and should be considered as a legitimate competitor against companies selling games and I'm not kidding
63. The Book of Life (2014)

It’s a solid kids film on the Day of the Dead. Some of the performances are better than others, as are the songs, but if you have kids, it’ll make for a good time.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon (2020)

For the price it goes for now, it’s one of the most content rich games of all time, with a protagonist that’ll inspire hope in the darkest times. One of the best games in the series.
Deltarune (2025)

The creator of Undertale is back at it with a game that’s similar, but just fresh enough to provide a new, engaging experience.
Hollow Knight: Silksong (2025)

You’ve probably heard about this game by now. And I’m happy to say it not only delivers on the hype, but is one of the Metroidvanias ever made.
Dead Take (2025)

A fairly solid puzzle horror walking simulator. The live action footage helps it stand out from other games of its kind. Pretty short, but is an entertaining experience regardless.
Two Point Museum (2025)

A good game to unwind to after a long day. It’s satisfying to see your museums grow as you progress through it. For simulator fans, this is one you don’t wanna miss.
Ninja Gaiden Ragebound (2025)

An excellent return to form for the series, but also removes the bullshit aspects of the early platformers to make a hard but fair game to complete.
Date Everything! (2025)

One of the weirdest games to come out of the year, but a memorable one all the same. Practically every voice actor you know is in this game, with its 100 datable object-characters.
Peak (2025)

I mean. The title says it all. It’s a fun game to play with friends, and leads to high tense situations climbing the mountain. A play with friends game I actually like.
Elden Ring Nightreign (2025)

Do you like Elden Ring? Do you like rougelikes? This game is for you. It has a really fun gameplay loop that will give you incentives to keep playing even if you fail a run. And this coming from someone who doesn’t like rougelikes.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (2025)

I mean, this is one of the biggest games of the year right now. You can feel the passion in every aspect of this game, with an incredible world, story, and a twist I haven’t seen as good since the original Bioshock.

Even if you don’t like RPGs, play this.

I am going to interject to mention 2021's "NEO The World Ends With You" which is amazing as both a game in it's own right and as a sequel to the first game on DS
Sonic X Shadow Generations (2024)

Not only does it already have the great Sonic Generations, but it introduces a brand new Shadow Campaign that’s the best Shadow game ever made. It’s even a great first Sonic game in my opinion.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (2024)

Arguably the definitive Indiana Jones experience. The first person perspective may be a turn off for some, but if you can get used to it, you may find one of the best adventure games in recent memory.

thought this was really beautiful
62. The Cabin in the Woods (2011)

An excellent horror comedy that serves as a love letter to the entire genre. If you haven’t seen it before, you must go into it as blind as possible. It will make your experience that much greater.
Reposting this, since I posted this one year ago today.
“Games Aren’t Fun Anymore”

Yes they are. You’re just looking in the wrong places. Games are still just as good as they were.

Here’s a thread of good or great games released in the 2020s. No remakes.

Happy Halloween and Felix Dia de los Muertos from The Green Scorpion!

Stay safe, embrace the spooky, and have a great day!
61. Frankenstein (2025)

An engrossing and beautifully directed film. Oscar Isaac is great, but the star of the film is Jacob Elrodi as the Creature. Can’t say how faithful it is to the original story, but I do know that it’s a film you do not want to miss.
