For a moment he sees the man that Kylo is behind all of his bluster and bloodlust.

“Damned hormones,” he swore, trying to fight his feelings.

He smiled warmly and allowed the hug, gently hugging him back. Hux felt like he’d been in a damned space ship crash— well, he had. His whole body was sore.

“From the first time?” he asked quietly. “When I was glaring at you?”

Hux felt tears coming on. Damn it.

His jaw dropped when he saw him drop to his knee, genuinely proposing their future together.

“Wow— I— it’s a yes, but ask me again when I’m not in a med bay bed,” he chuckled softly.

Being spoiled might not be so bad.

“Thank you,” he murmured and gently squeezed his hand. Taking a deep breath, he looked at him. “Not going to lie, I panicked a bit at first. It’s a huge thing to take on. Lifelong commitment.”

Armitage’s scientific mind was blown. They were so small— they literally looked like two peanuts when they lit up, but they were there.

It was surprising that they’d even found common ground in the first place— and now they were riffing with each other like long lost friends.

“Can you feel them now? Now that they’re close to you?” he asked softly about the twins. “I can’t imagine they’re that well-formed yet, but still.”

The smile was actually kind of cute and Hux actually blushed when he saw it.

“Mm. Well actually maybe it’s my doing because I always make sure my tasks are complete.”

His mouth formed into an ‘o’ and he looked at Kylo in silence for a moment before he stared down at himself.

“You don’t do anything halfway, do you?” he teased, using humor to cope a bit. “Kyloooooo.”

He groaned his name.

He still didn’t fully understand why Kylo loved him so much, but he was realizing that they were all they had left. They didn’t have to answer to anyone.

“Well… let me hear what you think. It’s your child too.”
