there really should be another one or two but i think this snuck up on everyone and we're still just focused on getting flyers out around town for awareness and making sure the neighborhood around the Greenway knows what's coming. maybe someone can step up and organize that.
artbymags.bsky.social
and yes there will be porta potties! don't know if there's any plan for any food or drink so probably best to bring what you think you might need, including sunscreen, water, snacks and a fully charged phone. maybe a chair or blanket if you don't wanna be standing the whole time. be self-sufficient.

There’s one happening right now at Vaughns. That is the only one I have heard of.

There’s another group of people who are meeting out in front of Armstrong Park at 3 PM and walking over to the Greenway from there. You could join up with one of these groups or you could make your own group with your friends, pick a location and a time and march on over together.

I am trying to decide what I will wear and what sign I’ll be carrying. And whether I will just drive down to the location or if I’m going to pick a spot along the Greenway closer to home in midcity and walk the Greenway. I know one group is meeting at Parkway at 3 PM and walking from there.

So far, Kermit Ruffins has been announced as performing. I’m not one of the organizers so I don’t know if there are more big announcements coming. But hey, it’s New Orleans. Anything can happen!

New Orleans has been designated by @indivisible.org as one of 10 anchor cities in the country! The Great Lawn on the Greenway between Galvez and Prieur was chosen because it’s a huge open space that can accommodate the amount of people anticipated. It’s really lovely down there and family friendly.

Save this file and print it out. Put it in your window. Give them to your neighbors. Tack one up in your neighborhood on a utility pole. Put them up in your favorite coffee shop. Gather your people and meet us on the Greenway! Last time we had 7000. This time we’re shooting for twice that!

haven't shared any cute kitten pics lately. she's growing up so fast!! i settled on Dusti as her name - for my favorite Gulf Coast abstract expressionist Dusti Bongé. i swear some days she is the only thing keeping me going. (i love my other cat Lily but she is often bitchy and rarely lovey dovey.)

thanks for sharing this! i wanna add the specific location cuz i forgot that on the original post. it will be on the Great Lawn, which is between Galvez and Prieur, Lafitte and St. Louis.

i just did! i've been out all afternoon stapling up flyers for the protest all around the Greenway area where it's gonna be and then back in Midcity too. i hope we get more people than the last one in June!
artbymags.bsky.social
Yes! Spread the word!

Sorry, I realized after I posted it that that flyer didn’t have the specific information on it, but I was in a hurry and I meant to come back and add that. So thank you for prompting me.

On the Great Lawn, which is between Galvez and Prieur, Lafitte and St. Louis. The place where the Greenway really widens into a large space that can accommodate several thousand people.

Kermit Ruffins is bringing his legendary sound and spirit to the #NoKings Rally! Join us for an afternoon of community, power, and incredible music as we mobilize for democracy. This isn't just a rally; it's a celebration of our collective voice. 10/18 3:30-5:30pm Lafitte Greenway #IndivisibleNOLA

Do you mind sharing what their concern is about the Greenway? It definitely wouldn't have been my choice but I'm rolling with it. Seems like we make more of an impact if we're all in the same place.
artbymags.bsky.social
so i'm confused - y'all aren't joining the Indivisible NO KINGS event on the Greenway?

Picked up a stack of flyers earlier for the #NoKings protest next Saturday. I’ll be flyering tomorrow afternoon in the area around the Greenway if anybody wants to come help. Just DM me.

I voted a little while ago, and I am so delighted to report that my polling location was hopping! I can’t remember a time in recent history when it’s been that crowded and I’ve actually had to wait in line for 10 minutes to vote! I am usually the only one there when I vote. 👏👏

Wow, the pumpkin patch at Carrollton and Zimple is such a scene today. No I’m not getting a pumpkin. I was just driving by, but I guess the fall weather today has got people in the spirit.
artbymags.bsky.social
Well, it’s back on so at least it wasn’t as long of an outage as the other night.
artbymags.bsky.social
What could go wrong? omg!
artbymags.bsky.social
Oh I am definitely going for the ice cream! Gotta self-soothe somehow. 😂

Midcity does seem to be having some bad luck right now. I am not amused.
