Trump’s toothless anti-DEI executive orders (toothless because they are not actually law) have given a lot of people and organizations an opportunity to be as shitty as they ever wanted to be, which is, apparently, pretty shitty.
itsafronomics.bsky.social
lol gentle reminder that DEI is not illegal. Supporting marginalized groups is not illegal. Anyone reneging on support is making a CHOICE to do so.

Persuade TRUMP voters was the question. Dems are always being challenged to appeal to the right, Reps never challenged to appeal to the left (or even the center). That is a TOTALLY biased question which assumes the U.S. is naturally oriented towards Trump and his politics.
arunadsouza.bsky.social
To the extent that it’s ONLY Democrats who are asked how they’re going to appeal to Trump voters, and NEVER Republicans who are asked how they will appeal to Dem voters, that question is hugely biased. Also the video WaPo put up was HUGELY edited. She may be trash but not on the basis of that clip.

What are the chances that the manosphere, which spends a lot of time handwringing about fertility rates, will now advocate for clean air laws?
sarahemilyduff.bsky.social
‘for every additional 10 micrograms of particulates per cubic meter of air there was a corresponding 10 percent increase in infertility risk.’

It’s not a way to “erase the heritage of Native Americans” so much as erase the heritage of white people by erasing their history of colonization and the genocide of Native Americans. If Columbus Day were a day when we remembered how horrible he was and mourn the violence he set off, okay fine.

This is how politicians should be talking about trans folks. Period.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Manufacturing consent for an invasion of Venezuela. I guess now that there’s a Gaza “agreement” the paper needs to pivot.

“When it comes to Venezuela, silence is violence,” our columnist Bret Stephens writes. “Choosing to ignore the catastrophe there only serves to perpetuate it.”

My kid is doing their MA at the University of Toronto, and their Farsi teacher is incorporating AI into her pedagogy. Needless to say, my kid hates it—says it basically undermines, rather than enhances, their education. I’m sure the prof is being given uni $$$$ to encourage AI in the classroom.

This all makes sense and yet I always wonder why it’s THIS condition that inspires such parental anxiety as opposed to anything else—like, I don’t see parents of children with other types of neuro or physical differences get quite as caught up in the “grasping for straws” conspiracy theories.

Fuck Stephen Colbert, who gets painted as a free speech hero while being given a pass for being an Islamophobic racist.

I just switched to old school Microsoft Office which you have to download on your computer instead of Microsoft 365 so that I don’t have to contend with AI. Wish me luck.

It really is a lesson that anarchism is the only solution because they can’t fight an army they can’t see.

This fantasy of “founders” of antifa and an organization that has a hierarchy and structure is so funny like my dudes have you ever heard of anarchism?

As far as I can tell, no Canadian has ever been shot in Washington DC.
