Pure reckons but I'd put down a large chunk of that to increasing turnout in Ōtaki and the rest of the district due to the Māori ward referendum.

You def can't put it down to the anti-rates crowd when the mayor was comfortably returned and most of the anti-rates candidates lost.

Kāpiti Coast District Council has increased our election turnout compared to 2022. Last election we got 45.8%, this time we're already at 45.7% before specials have been added to the count.

A now-dead ex MP used to message me on here nearly every time we passed each other on these travelators when I worked there, sometimes making unwanted 'bear' references. He was an odd one.

I've read my chapter and I know that this book will be a really valuable resource both for people going through this, and for their loved ones supporting them.

When I was 16 my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer - 3 months later she died. It was an awful thing to go through, but one that too many rangatahi in Aotearoa face.

I am so done with this bullshit.

NZ First mingled with a crowd who set fire to the grounds of parliament.

The Greens marched with a hīkoi that did not leave a scrap of litter on those same grounds.

I'm on RNZ this morning talking about the Government's decision to continue enabling genocide. Safe to say I'm pretty furious about it.
Screenshot of a news article reading:

Wilson-Goldman called Peters' speech "absolute cowardice", saying New Zealand was "aiding and abetting in genocide".

"The reality is that, if you want the people of Palestine to be standing up, to be saying 'this is the kind of life we want to live', they need to be given the opportunity to do that.

"Hamas does whatever Hamas does, but ultimately, the thing that is hurting Palestinians the most is the genocide Israel is committing and that's what needs to stop."

Took part in Hīkoi mō te Pōti today with Embracing Te Tiriti Kāpiti, from Raumati Beach to drop off our voting papers at Paraparaumu Library.

So much support from tooting cars along the way, don't forget to fill out your voting papers and say YES to keeping Māori wards!

Some first reactions from me and Dayenu: NZ Jews Against the Occupation.
Absolute cowardice from Winston Peters and the Government today as they continue to reward genocide by refusing to recognise the State of Palestine. As Israel continues to massacre civilians, our Government doesn't even have the courage to recognise the truth - that Palestine exists, has existed and will continue to exist. At this rate, this country will go down in history as one of the few countries that continues to aide and abet this atrocity. New Zealand is breaking international law and supporting genocide. Dayenu will always stand alongside our Palestinian sisters and brothers against genocide and for justice and freedom.

Yes same here! In the last 20 mins we've gone from torrential rain to barely a cloud in the sky. It's a miracle

Keeping me company while I WFH. Am really glad she doesn't want to go out for a walk in this weather either.

For sure, but alongside a call for "revolution" from the same candidate it's slightly incongruous though!

And a council candidate who is promising to review the LTP in his first term, not realising that every council already has to redo the LTP every term.
