I think it's @chewienz.bsky.social who keeps making parallels between Te Tiriti and the US Constitution?

Imagine if an education official in the US said it was disgusting for people to make maps of schools that voluntarily uphold the Constitution.

I regret ranking Andrew Little higher than the joke candidates. Not sure what I was thinking there.
I voted for @andrewlittlenz.bsky.social I kinda regret it now.

I hope the long run will prove me wrong on his strategy of giving RWers enough work to keep them in line. It still looks too much like rewarding creeps who don't deserve it.

We can disagree on policy. But promoting someone who spreads misogynistic rumours into a key leadership role? That should be a red line for any council committed to safe and respectful politics. #nzpol

#BHN alumni Dr Gary Payinda and Craig Renney being selected as Labour Party candidates is a good score for the party, but it makes me slightly uneasy.

I think they work better as experts providing independent commentary, rather than politicians who need to toe the party line occasionally?

You know that feeling? when you almost reverse into a police car and then you relive the moment over and over again for the entire rest of the weekend

I keep thinking about how completely useless each of the coalition parties is at the thing they're actually supposed to be good at.

The ACT party are libertarian? Huh. So when will they come out fighting for our liberty to use puberty blockers?

I use Regaine® as a gender-affirming treatment.

My favourite part of the instruction manual is where it says "exactly how Regaine® works is not known".

I'm allowed to purchase it and apply it to my scalp anyway. No one is bothered by this.

What idiot put Simeon Brown in charge of medicine?

This is the most expensive shirt I own (and the oversized label is scratchy as heck).

I suspect I will be wearing it much more over the next year.

Ban would be by Regulation with a likely start date of 19 December 2025.

I'm actually getting very concerned about Labour. At a standup Hipkins said his job is to "win as many seats as possible" when it should be to "create good policy". I think this objective creates a perverse incentive that sets them up in opposition to their allies.
To put it diplomatically, I know there's *cough* a certain element in Labour that are pissy boots that the Greens snatched their wigs in "their" Wellington seats but this is taking spite way too far. #nzpol

I remember a couple of days ago when the Police Commissioner said that getting a speeding ticket was "the dumbest thing [he'd] ever done"

And my immediate, cynical, and ultimately correct reaction was, "let's wait a few more days".

My first impression of HDPA was when she commented on protestors who were blocking the roads.

She said, "what if emergency past need to get past?"

And I was confused because they'd already clarified that they would let emergency vehicles past.

I did not understand how HDPA had got on the air.
this should immediately have a commentator REMOVED from their roles, instead it’s a strong signal of just how decrepit and servile to power nz media is

I remember reading about a company that employed designers.

When having to choose between a designer with a great portfolio who showed average confidence, and a designer with an average portfolio who showed great confidence, they would choose the more confident designer.

I think about this a lot.
NZ Employers: Hmmmm, this candidate is nice and likes to treat their co-workers with respect…

Also NZ Employers: …nahhhh. Let’s pick the arrogant, arsehole that will make life miserable for everyone!

Also NZ Employers: …and make them the boss!

Tamatha Paul OWNED the chamber today and it was powerful.

Didn't even need to say "I told you so". Just got down to business.
Tamatha Paul speaking for the Greens; starts with acknowledging the mana of mcSkimming's victim.

"Its particularly stinging to have to discuss this matter on this day" - because its meant to be about remembering victims of abuse and instead we're again talking about abusers #nzqt

The reason I'm not interested in The Running Man (2025) is that the protagonist appears to be the Competent American Man Guy when they should have gone with the Affable Doofus Who Just Bumbles Through.

I have absolutely no interest in seeing any more fantasies of the Competent American Man Guy.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Chris Hipkins misrepresented what Tamatha Paul said. She knew exactly what she was talking about.

Hipkins crossed a major line when he did that. He should have made it right earlier. Now he NEEDS to make it right.
Now I’d like to hear Chris Hipkins apologise to Tamatha Paul and the rest of us who he gaslit on police safety not that long ago 😡
