It might seem obvious that if you value something, you'll make an effort to get better at it.

What's less intuitive is that if you make an effort to get better at something you're not good at, you'll learn its value.

Absolutely impeccable timing for this. Exquisite. Pristine.

I'm gonna make the prediction now. Death flights are going to start in the next few months. When we eventually find out I'll refer back to this post.
Congratulations america. You've graduated to disappearing people.

Google "death flights" for where you're headed.
NEWS: Last night, the Department of Homeland Security detained a Palestinian who helped lead the Columbia encampment.

Agents told him his visa was revoked. He said he had a green card. They were confused—then said that was revoked too.

His attorney demanded a warrant. Agents hung up instead.

Yeah. They're secret police and y'all democratically elected a repressive regime.
This is what secret police do and repressive regimes.

This something I want people to understand. If you don’t get their names, they’re just gone. There’s no arrest record and the snatch-and-grabs can last seconds. People simply disappear and we can’t find out who they are or what happened to them.
They seem to be making a habit of it.

This child was taken 10 days ago, no idea who he is, if he is with his family or even if his family knows what happened to him.

I'll say yet again: Trump & his party do something virtually every day that constitutes a more violent & alarming suppression of speech than anything that happened during the entire alleged tyranny of woke. Every day. Yet the entire Free Spech army has just vanished into mist.
I wrote on the shameful situation re: the recession of a deanship to Emily Suski at the University of Arkansas Law. What was the reason? Prof. Suski signed an amicus brief supporting trans rights. The Arkansas legislators admitted that was it! Horrible outcome. ballsandstrikes.org/legal-cultur...
A Law School Dean Signed a Brief Defending Trans Rights. She Lost Her Job Because of It
The revocation of Emily Suski’s job offer at the University of Arkansas sends a chilling message to law professors everywhere.

New Zealand news media actually is surprising even my cynical-ass self with it's sheer level of bootlicking craven spinelessness.

This thread is so much. 😭
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Do the parents allege that when he was assaulting citizens and abusing authority he was on the correct amount of cocaine, and it was only the hate that drove him to too much cocaine?

What do you expect him to do? He hasn't been *BRIEFED* yet!
I think one might have had the foresight 15 hours ago that having pics of Luxo having a jolly old time in the pub while multiple regions are in a state of emergency miiight not be a great look

In a sign of how explosive ICE knew this secret memo would be, one whistleblower says he was only allowed to read the memo and was barred from taking written notes, and warned that employees had been punished for disagreeing.

At least one ICE instructor resigned rather than teach the illegal memo!

A culture where this kind of overt we're-breaking-the-law-and-have-to-hide-it can happen and filter down the ranks and go for months before a whistleblower reveals it, as opposed to everyone immediately going "hell no that's crazy and illegal," is not fixable or reformable. Burn it to the ground.

I predict that this is not going to last two weeks. And I'm kind of shocked people are breathing a sigh of relief right now. Nothing has changed.
Oh man Rutte absolutely pulled one over on Donnie, looking forward to hearing what BS he offered up.

Parker is quite empathetic & gentle in the piece.

Not me. I find the passivity discussed in the piece *utterly damning* -- of US institutions, US leaders, and the US people.

Non one wants to just say it, but Trump has exposed this country as hollow, callow, spoiled, & ignorant.

America will threaten to invade an ally, and Americans will still demand you apologize to them and consider *their* feelings while it's happening.

This is, in fact, the oldest of all types of guys.
trump getting his feelings hurt by european leaders is the culmination of this new type of guy that emerged in the last decade or so: guy who goes out of his way to be a huge asshole who then gets really offended when the people he's being an asshole to don't like him

Twitter is not where battles are being fought.
I've been telling my Twitter followers to come here since the invites ended. My Twitter bio still does.

I haven't left Twitter because that is where the battle is being fought and you don't win wars by surrendering the battle space to the enemy, which is why Elon overpaid for it in the first place.
