Chris Murphy
@chrismurphyct.bsky.social
U.S. Senator from Connecticut.
Posting this one too.

My senior Senator did a masterful job in calmly and methodically exposing the cult-like commitment Trump judicial nominees have to lying through their teeth in order to please their beloved leader.

Just a sad, embarrassing display.
PAINFUL to watch. There’s a clear Trump judicial nominee loyalty test.

They must forever deny, deny, deny that he lost the 2020 presidential election.

Fragile.

This is extraordinary, heartbreaking, and a red alert warning sign for our democracy.

These people are about to be federal judges, and they refuse to answer whether the U.S. Capitol was attacked on January 6.

They say they can't comment because it's "a political controversy".
Sen. BLUMENTHAL: Was the U.S. Capitol attacked on January 6, 2021?

Trump nominee: *dodges*

Trump nominee: *dodges*

Trump nominee: Well, individuals entered the Capitol.

Blumenthal: You are in fear—how will you have the courage to be fair and impartial?

I'm watching his speech and it's wild he has no idea what's going on in the country.

54% of Americans say they won't be able to pay for health care next year.

25% skipped a meal because they couldn't afford it.

The economy is good for billionaires. That's all he cares about.
December 18, 2025 at 2:31 PM
He's lying. How do we know?

Because they released the Sept 2nd video already!! Just not the part where they illegally killed the survivors. There's nothing "top secret" about the second strike if there wasn't anything top secret about the first one.
Hegseth on the second Sept 2 strike: "Of course we're not going to release a top secret full unedited of that to the general public"

If the House passes a 3 year extension of the ACA tax credits - which they now have the votes to do - then @LeaderJohnThune has to call it up for a vote in the Senate.

GOP leaders have tried as hard as they can to hurt families, but the dam is breaking. Let's get this done.

Quite the day for Patel to drop this new content.

The FBI has completely bungled the Brown shooting - the shooter is still at large! - just like the Kirk shooting.

Maybe that's because Patel is doing interviews like this instead of doing his job.

My office is closely tracking the water main break in Waterbury and Wolcott. Local leadership, volunteers, my staff, and
@CTNationalGuard
have been working nonstop to provide resources and support to the families impacted.

1/ Sharing some of those resources in this thread.

In the briefing yesterday, the Admin didn't even pretend the strikes were designed to stop the fentanyl trade to the U.S.. Of course - because Venezuela produces no fentanyl.

They transport cocaine - bound for...wait for it...Europe.

So this is The War On European Cocaine.

I just came out of the briefing with Sec. Rubio and Sec. Hegseth on the military strikes in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific. Here's what I learned.

Bottom line: there is no legal or national security justification for what they're doing. Not even close.

He's just lost it. Now saying Rob and Michele Reiner caused their own murder because they didn't support him.

So sick.
December 15, 2025 at 4:56 PM
This is so vile and so un-American.

And calling our founder fathers - who would cringe at this kind of bigoted zealotry - "pearl clutchers" is a twist.

13 years since that unspeakable day in Sandy Hook. 13 years of growing a movement to make sure kids feel safe everywhere. 13 years of heroes living with pain and grief yet still speaking truth to power.

He's feeble, working only a few hours a day, more erratic than ever, and his base is starting to figure it all out.

"Many voters who spoke with CNN [about their opposition to Trump's map] said they did not want to be named because they feared being vocal about the issue could also subject them to threats."

Remember, the threat of violence is key to Trump's power.

Republicans in the Indiana state Senate could give President Donald Trump a major political black eye this week — and the conservative voters who elected them say they don’t mind.

This is the most corrupt White House in the history of the country.
December 15, 2025 at 4:51 PM
We have 24 hours before the Senate vote to stop the January premium increases - $6,200 annual increase for the average Connecticut family on an ACA plan.

Republicans can still choose to do the right thing and vote with us.

This is important. Especially that part about COSTS GOING UP BECAUSE TRUMP IS MAKING THEM GO UP NOT BECAUSE OF NATURAL ECONOMIC FACTORS.
December 10, 2025 at 6:29 PM
Your donors and voters aren't motivated because they supported a feeble, aging con man for President who pretended he cared about them and high costs and then when he won turned the White House in a 24/7 grift machine to enrich himself, his family and his friends.

I need you to listen to and share this story - of how Trump is preparing to abandon Ukraine in exchange for Russian money for his billionaire friends.

It could be the greatest corruption of American foreign policy in our history. Russia gets Ukraine. Trump's friends get rich.

Neither Netflix nor the Paramount/Trump/Saudi Arabia group should own Warner Bros. Both deals are absurd - terrible for consumers and democracy.

This is a story about corruption - Trump using government power to screw consumers and gain control of the media. A red alert moment.

It’s important to remember there are two scandals here:

1. The Administration has likely committed war crimes.

2. But the entire operation - which now includes two dozen attacks - is illegal. In our democracy, the President CANNOT wage war without the consent of the people.
BERMAN: Did you see any evidence of them trying to use a radio in the video you saw?

TOM COTTON: Well I saw lots of evidence of them standing on the boat that had been capsized

BERMAN: That wasn't my question. Did you see any evidence?

COTTON: No, I didn't

What we are watching - as U.S. citizens are dragged out of cars and illegal war is waged in the Caribbean - is the corruption of the most sacred power we give the President - the power of violence.

We are no longer a democracy if the regime can use violence without restraint.

No one in America has done more to incite political violence than Donald Trump. And it’s not close.

This is totalitarianism. Not rule of law democracy. And everyone who excused thus is potentially signing this nation’s death warrant.
December 5, 2025 at 4:57 PM
The pardons Trump is handing out are a huge, growing scandal that not enough people are talking about. This is a money making operation - for for Trump, his family, his crypto pals, and the Trump-affiliated lobbyists and grifters who the pardon seekers pay.
