How do I explain to offline people that my favorite Japanese mascot said "we can only be liberated from queer oppression if we are truly seen as human" and then started wielding fireworks like a rocket launcher on the side of a mountain without sounding like I've totally lost it?

Chiitan has a dream.
I hope that one day the term LGBT will become a thing of the past.
I will continue to spread my message until we live in a world where everyone can love freely and is free from persecution and discrimination.
Until then, let's all support each other🤍

Yeah, I was talking about how many words I had left to write on a project on here once & someone said I should get AI to do it for me, and my genuine response was, "What, and I should ask the computer to fuck my wife, too?"

It's so wild to me to not want to *do the creating*.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

We banned a guy on the Steam forums for repeatedly saying there were “too many women” in our game

So he flipped his positive review to negative

Still totally worth it

GOD DAMMIT @democrats.org, DO BETTER.

When Republican bigots insert transphobic provisions into a bill, THAT SHOULD BE A DEALBREAKER.

Please, for the love of all that is good. STAND UP FOR YOUR TRANS CONSTITUENTS!!!!

The Senate has just passed the military NDAA containing 2 anti-trans provisions: a surgery ban using federal funds (dependents too), and a sports ban on military academy spaces.

This will be the STARTING point for negotiations with the House, which has even worse provisions.

Only 20 Dems opposed.

It's like, I do think he's probably being abused by his caregivers. He's clearly very sick but also... everything I hear from them just suggests that they've internalized his ideology and are acting accordingly? That just feels like reaping what you've very actively and aggressively sown.
thedescenters.bsky.social
I feel like I would normally have sympathy but I just can't drum it up for him at all. I think it's less to do with his politics and more to do with how he seems as a person.
thedescenters.bsky.social
That's not even touching the fact that the politics trump represents were defeated in a landslide in the last election either.

It's difficult to understand why Labor keeps trying to cosy up to the american regime. Nobody is asking for it. If anything, this is exactly the sort of mealy-mouthed hypocrisy that's cost them support over the years.

Anybody honest would be able to admit that the threats over the prize alone should be enough to render him ineligible for it, even if did decide to ignore everything else.

AM I LOSING MY MIND???!!!
Gilbert: In relation to the United States and its approach to this, Donald Trump, there's some talk of him getting the Nobel Peace Prize. Would you support that? Do you think that would be a good move?
Foreign Minister: Well, certainly this peace plan is historically unprecedented. And, you know, this has been the biggest contribution to peace that we have seen in a very long time.
Gilbert: So, you wouldn't be opposed to that idea?
Foreign Minister: Obviously, it's a matter for the committee. But this has been the greatest contribution to peace in the Middle East for a generation or more.
And, you know, I think if we see the hostages, when we see the hostages returned and aid flowing into Gaza, what peace enables, I think will come home to all of us.

I mean I don't know what else they expect to happen when they cut somebody's welfare off in the first place. Their aim is to get people off the books. That's one way.

Alex Jones has asked the Supreme Court to immediately put his almost $1.5 billion defamation judgment on hold, citing the imminent threat of InfoWars being handed over to The Onion.

If there isn't a stay, "InfoWars will have been acquired by its ideological nemesis and destroyed," the filing says.

"The purpose of a system is what it does."

"The cruelty is the point."

Social "security" systems exist to punish the un(der)employed. To deliberately create misery.

As desperate people will take any job they can. Which keeps pay low, and profits high.

"Mutual obligations" are class warfare.
thedescenters.bsky.social
The frustrating part about this lie is that mutual obligations and the low rate of payment have actually been proven several times to create material barriers to this, even if 100% employment was actually possible, and under capitalism it is simply not.

Payman: Why are you maintaining a system that "The Labor *party* platform notes can be punitive, cause stress and anxiety, and can be a barrier to employment?"

Senator Jess Walsh responds by explaining that the Labor *government* believes the best form of welfare is a job 👍

“Work” in this sense, I think, is ‘meaningful engagement with community’. Which is pretty much the opposite of what “work” means to capitalists.
thedescenters.bsky.social
when I say that? I'm not exclusively talking about waged work, or supporting yourself through "earning your own money". I'm talking about work in a more holistic sense. Work for yourself, working on your art, working on improving your community. You empower people to seek out that by...

I don’t understand the hate people have towards Greta Thunberg…anyone want to explain it to me? I see a passionate advocate shining light on a humanitarian need to help save an entire population of people from being ethnically cleansed and genocided, when others don’t even try. What am I missing?
