With more people joining Bluesky, seems like time to do another intro post.

I'm a sci-fi writer based in Naarm (Melbourne). If I'm known for anything, it's probably The Voidwitch Saga, which I call astropunk rather than space opera.

Repo Virtual is my (lost thanks to covid?) cyberpunk novel.

It's "culturally unsafe" to have a Palestinian Aus author advocate against the systematic slaughter of hundreds of thousands of her people, but it's
"a good thing" for the president of apartheid Israel, which has committed daily massacres and mass starvation for 2yrs, to visit us. Unbearably racist.

going to a gp clinic with lots of gay/trans patients means the doctors will probably be less evil, but it also means there will probably be someone better dressed than me in the waiting room, so it’s impossible to say if it’s good or not

I'm the same. I'll always have a funny interjection, or a pun, or whatever, but that's off the cuff. I wouldn't know how to do it in a way that isn't reactive.

Politicians and people who only loosely can be called “journalists” have attributed meaning to Dr Abdel-Fattah’s words that are just so far away from her actual words. You don’t have a right to “cultural safety” if you think Palestinian children should be blown up — it’s absurd.

No, I haven't. Not really into retellings generally, but made an exception for WGS because it's trans and people speak highly of it.

No new pictures. Where are you mentally?
January 13, 2026 at 8:44 AM
Yep! Works perfectly for the character and it's a little inspiring too.

I feel like the sheer proximity will accelerate the process, so it could still happen 🤞

I'm reading Wrath Goddess Sing, and I'm enjoying that Achilles is kind of a cunt. Yes, trans women can take up space, be loud, be mean, be relentless, in and out of fiction.

I think with the hate we experience it's easy to tell yourself you should be small and quiet, but fuck that.

"You're so lucky"? Even without all the other evidence, that alone is such an obvious plea. Take the estrogen, girl!

Sounds like you're staying with them "as long you need" to crack that egg... 🥚🔨

The other night I told her that I'd referred to her as my platonic wife on bluesky before 😊

Oh, and our story in Interzone #303 features a Palestinian couple who met during the struggle for independence (one of them is a sentient gun, of course).

We wanted some fucked up shit our main squad could do/use during their evictions because it had to be GRIMDARK, and you probably won't be surprised to learn it's actually quite difficult to come up with tech, tools, and tactics worse than what Israel has been deploying against starving civilians.

With Australian Zionism taking another another victim in the Arts, I'd just like to say that mine and Maddison's story in the Cyberpunk issue of Grimdark was a response to Israel's genocide of Palestinians.

From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

The tub's a little too short for me so I don't use it much, but it's plenty big for her.

I visited my housemate's room to ask her something while wearing this last night (with pants, this time), and she gave me a cheeky little smile... Said she bought us another paid of matching jumpers, but she won't tell me what's on them because it's a surprise.
Because @splashygirl.bsky.social asked and I couldn't find a photo online. My Bunbelievable jumper with bonus Bunny (she loves my wardrobe for some reason and is always looking for a way in).

Earlier, she patiently led me to the bathroom so she could leap into the bath, flop onto her side and receive pats. It's not even a hot day, she just loves the tub.
She loves the tub. Little weirdo.

The reason why Australian governments throw billions at sport while ignoring or crushing arts festivals is because the arts help people think about and question society, while sport is nothing more than a relief valve for social and economic pressures they want us to shut up about and endure
