The book was 2004. It’s full of how the media arm of the operation took the think tanks’ neocon project to invade Iraq and made it happen. AEI is peak Atlas Network partner. Brock has PNAC as an Atlas tank linked operation.

THE REPUBLICAN NOISE MACHINE: RIGHT-WING MEDIA A... Powell then laid out the strategy that the Right would follow in the coming decades, whereby conservative business interests would create and underwrite a "movement" to front its agenda in the media. Under Powell's plan, heavily subsidized "scholars, writers, and thinkers" speaking "for the movement" would press for "balance" and "equal time" to penetrate the media, thereby shaping news coverage, reframing issues, influencing the views of political elites, and changing mass public opinion. These would be the manufactured "intellectuals" referenced by Efron, marketed in the media to "expand the spectrum." They would be housed in new "national organizations" in an effort "undertaken long term" with "generous financial support." Appended to Powell's original copy of the memo was a column by conservative writer John Chamberlain from the Richmond Times-Dispatch summarizing the findings of Edith Efron from The News Twisters. Simon laid out a "blue-print for a counter-intelligentsia"—hired guns who could legitimize and popularize right-wing opinion through the media and do battle in the media on behalf of conservative business interests, the wealthy, and the cultural Right with spokespeople for the consumer, environmental, civil rights, and feminist movements. Under Simon's plan, academic studies that were damaging to right-wing ideological goals and to the imperatives of business were to be countered at every turn by scholarship for sale. Simon advocated "nothing less than a massive and unprecedented mobilization of moral, intellectual and financial resources" with funds "rushing by multimillions" from corporate-backed foundations to a network of pro-business scholars, writers, pundits, and publicists, as well as to conservative book projects, publications, and policy research. The funds would go exclusively to right-wing ideologues, with no capitulation to "soft-minded pleas for the support of 'dissent, " Simon advised, thus ensuring that conservatism would have the unwavering message discipline, ideological uniformity, and seeming unity that seemed to go missing in liberalism. The work would carry an air of academic authority and independence, but it would be subject to no peer review or conflict-of-interest safeguards, and it would be carried out covertly in support of "the only party with a philosophical heritage which might permit it to be the Liberty Party in the United States, the Republican Party." tank. - Through the Adolph Coors Foundation, the Coors family underwrote a variety of right-wing causes and organizations. Over the years, statements emanated from the family suggesting a dark agenda may have motivated its activism. For instance, William Coors, one of the foundation's principals, told a group of African American businesspeople in a 1984 speech, "One of the best things they [slave traders, did for you is to drag your ancestors over here in chains." 5 If the genteel Powell represented traditional U.S. Chamber of Commerce-centered business-oriented conservatism, his memo, with its call for radical action, proved an inspiration to, and a unifying force for, the more populist, culturally reactionary southern and western outposts of conservatism. And she says while Australia has some protection from the spread of US-style rightwing tactics, there is also reason to be wary. "On one level we've got a good electoral system which protects us from the fringe things that America has to deal with," she says. "On the other hand we have very fragile party branches and structures, which are susceptible to groups with motives they're not confessing to. "[And] our information is pretty broken. We have a failure of civic responsibility where people are overwhelmed and not paying attention so they don't know the conservative they're voting for is a Pentecostal Christian who wants to take away abortion completely." Sengul says the right has not been able to capitalise on the youth vote in Australia as it has overseas, and that Turning Point Australia will struggle to rebrand conservative Christian values for youth as the religious dynamic is not as strong in Australia.
