The dangerous thing for Jewish people and for all of us who loathe antisemitism as much as Islamophobia and any bigotry is that Tucker Carlson has now supported and platformed without check a Third Reich antisemite.

The worst supporters of authoritarian religio-ethnostates are cooperating to reinforce each other’s message. (Caveat: Pahlavi might be riding their support. With people like JD Vance in the mix at NatCon, it could be useful.)

But for men like Pipes, another Jewish man, apparently it doesn’t matter if their partners promote conspiracy theories that belong to the antisemitic sewers. In fact he argued in this speech that Nazis are his “civilisationalist allies” against Muslims, but need the rough edges sorted.

That vast carelessness for everyone… but themselves. It’s the ubiquitous cruelty that gets me. Is it what happens when every aspect of life - human or otherwise - exists only to be measured for its value as a market commodity? Neoliberalism’s inevitable outcome is loss of our connection to life.

Exactly. I keep hoping that Aussies will see what is happening in US (and emerging in UK) and turn away but it’s not a safe bet. Our info space is so shattered. MTG didn’t know Trump was in the Epstein files til after this election. 🤯🤯🤯 She’s surrounded by info. 😳

I hope Jane is right but every group is susceptible to being radicalised. Germans were the most “civilised” of nations until the Third Reich turned so many. Arts, philosophy etc etc.
