Can we talk about how insane it is that Trump’s pick to “fight corruption” in Minnesota is a guy who took a $50,000 bribe in a Cava bag — and still won’t say whether he’s even returned it?

Laken Riley’s killer is currently sitting in prison without the possibility of parole.

Alex Pretti’s killer remains hidden from the public as the Trump White House pursues a massive cover up to ensure he never faces justice.

Republican politicians know that, like in the Soviet Union under Stalin, incurring the president’s ire in America today is a career-threatening act, given the devotion of the party’s MAGA base and the risk of being ejected in primaries or still worse.
Why Congress won’t restrain Donald Trump’s assault on allies
Republicans either fear the president’s ire, or want to strengthen his bargaining position

Excellent Tim Miller.

A reshuffle of the faces in charge, and one guy leaving isn't even the beginning of being enough. We need ICE and CPB out of Minnesota. And we need fundamental changes in the behavior of ICE everywhere.

The last line of WSJ piece describing that mostly Trump is looking for a change of optics, probably has no fucking clue that ICE/CBP aren't doing what he claims he wants.

It doesn't note, btw, that even Leavitt was calling for ICE to go door to door.

Remember videos of people in camps protesting and rioting? Even if Bovino is out, even if somehow Noem and Miller are forced to resign (still a longshot) people are still being brutalized. It's not about a few figureheads. It's about the wider system.
DHS is still disappearing people nationwide and it is not stopping because of fall boy Bovino reportedly being flicked aside. Camps are still being filled for profit.
Again it's good Bovino got pulled back. It's good there might be even a temporary drawdown in Minneapolis. But DHS is surging in Maine. It is grabbing people around Los Angeles. They aren't stopping. Maybe they're scared but they aren't stopping. The American Dirty War continues.
