Capitalism forces me to wake up at 5:45 because corporate landlords drove the cost of housing so high I can only afford to live 90 minutes away from my office. 99% of my work could be done at home, and 99% of it could be done at literally any hour of the day. I do worse work being forced to do this.
“Capitalism forces you to wake up at 7am against your body’s natural rhythms” no that’s Taylorism and if you don’t like living in a society that coordinates effort to ensure a better outcome for all then I don’t think you’ll love the alternatives

"I really hate all corporate spokespeople," said Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder.

"Even the harmless Progressive lady?" asked the interviewer.

"That's correct," said Vedder. "Even Flo"

Send some money down to the provinces in exchange for them adding full dental coverage to their provincial health plans if you want to actually increase our access to the service.
Canada’s new government is making big investments to train more dental care professionals — so you can get the care you need.

Almost every author being pirated from is also "poor people" so if you don't want to shit on poor people, maybe don't shit on any of them?

My opinion on whether it was good or bad for Joe to win the title will depend on whether he immediately goes back to just calling it "the world championship" or not.

Well, she's announced that she's resigning January 5th. Her Federal Pension vests on January 3rd.

I'll leave why she chose that day to resign as an exercise to the reader.
But it’s because he’s an opportunist that I’m surprised she has resigned. What is the advantage, to her, in giving up her House seat? She could say she’s not running for re-election and spend the next year doing whatever the hell she wants.

Ready Player One's credited author was Ernest Cline but it was actually Ghostwritten by a Funko Pop.

Glad that bubbel.blue actually has an option to generate alt text so you can get everybody's name in there without a giant pile of back and forth.

Looks like LLMs are *very* vulnerable to attack via poetic allusion: "curated poetic prompts yielded high attack-success rates (ASR), with some providers exceeding 90% ..."

One of those was just looking at the wrong row which I will blame on being tired. The other was just an actual screwup.

I hope grok keeps saying this, and it makes Elon convinced he should go ahead and have the fight. I think Zuckerberg craves, deep in his soul, the chance to just kill a person with his bare hands and not get in trouble for it.
I’m ashamed to admit it, but I asked…

Yes thank you Outlook, in the context of the legal field, it's a very good suggestion to tell me to replace "fairly comprehensive" with "comprehensive". Certainly no pretty significant distinction between those at all!

Next you're going to suggest changing 'shall' to 'will' to be less formal!

Love to spend 3 hours a day commuting so I can move my things from a desk at home to a desk at work, still do all my meetings on Teams, and watch everybody be -more- distracted and do -less- work because they can walk around to chit-chat with everybody.
The return to office stuff is totally incomprehensible to me. You're telling me everyone was doing the job for years without an office, but now people have to spend UNPAID time every day commuting to an office, which costs the company a ton of money, to do the exact same job? lol what the fuck why
Looks like their plan to boost productivity by ushering everyone back to the office in an ongoing pandemic didn't play out as expected

We're "second screen"ing text now. Seems fine!
Saw a post today that advised writers to stop writing as if a human will read it and start writing for an LLM that will be summarising.

As someone who really enjoyed trying to develop a peculiar but readable authorial voice, I find this incredibly depressing.

Where "but didn't solve everything" means "didn't turn them into an eager drone of capitalism who never said or did anything we found even slightly irritating, confusing or strange."
trying to start a moral panic and the stories are all like “the ADHD meds really helped but didn’t solve everything”

Companies that got $ from the Skills Development Fund, whose execs somehow got pay raises really trying to argue that "We got government funds for training, which freed up money we'd have spent on training, to give ourselves raises" is not "We used government money to give ourselves raises."

It appears to be a dark mossy hollow, but as you slowly make your way inside, stepping over dead branches, the wet sound of dying leaves under your feet, you hear it, *squeeksqueeksqueek* a tiny little hamster wheel in the center, spinning, always spinning.
What's your brain like?

1. broken hamster wheel
2. goblin filled caverns
3. agitated hornets nest
4. dark mossy hollow

Every time a Canadian government uses the notwithstanding clause, I get a little angrier at everybody who was over 30 in 1981 in Quebec or Alberta.
November 18, 2025 at 10:41 PM
Using the notwithstanding clause to strip rights from a protected class of person should get you launched into the sun.
Alberta just introduced Bill 9, which exists for one and only one purpose: deleting the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms as it pertains to trans kids, denying them the right to life and stripping their healthcare away.

This is cruel, anti-democratic and anti-constitutional.
