In late July, Paul Ingrassia, the White House liaison for the Department of Homeland Security, arrived at a Ritz-Carlton in Orlando with a lower-ranking female colleague and others from their department. When the group reached the front desk, the woman learned she didn’t have a hotel room.

Ingrassia then informed her that she would be staying with him, according to five administration officials familiar with the episode. Eventually the woman discovered that Ingrassia had arranged ahead of time to have her hotel room canceled so she would have to stay with him, three of those officials said.

Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.

There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.

What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.

It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.

Look man I understand parental fears of severe disability and social impairment but if the science actually showed that taking Tylenol increased the odds your kid will grow up to be Ben Affleck in The Accountant then the eugenicists in our government would start a Super Soldier program about it.

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

Amerithrax or whatever the FBI called it had that psychological effect that 9/11 wasn't one bad day and that life had become worse forever. And the Snipers were as close as I've ever known to how it must have felt during the Zodiac or Night Stalker killing sprees.

Couple things:

'Bush kept us safe' was the overwhelming message of the GOP from 2002-2007. They had to make Rs and swing voters forget who was President on 9-11.

2- Besides 9-11/Orange Alerts you had the DC Sniper & Anthrax which had outsized effects on how dangerous living your own life felt.

Wait, there's something REALLY interesting here I missed.

The US consensus that "crime is falling" stops in 2001-02, even though the Great Crime Decline kept dropping.

My take has always been that that's a 9/11 effect: when scared, we say "crime is up!"

But the partisan split THERE is unexpected.
