In this week's newsletter I wrote about Republicans' plan to win in 2026. Is it doing popular things? No, it's trying to get Democrats to nominate candidates with lots of baggage radio-free-america.beehiiv.com/p/why-are-mi...
Why Are Michigan Republicans Meddling in a Democratic Primary?st
Michigan Republicans target a Democratic primary, strategically backing a controversial candidate to influence the state senate special election race in a calculated political maneuver.

On any given day there are about 2800 commercial flights on Bombardier-built aircraft to, from, or within the United States. I'm sure pulling 180k daily seats out of service is no big deal.

Adding the A220 is another 650 daily, including the entire Breeze fleet (lots of JetBlue, Delta, too).

Cyndi Lauper is enormously popular in Japan. They play “Time After Time” everywhere. And when there’s like tragic news, like during 3/11 disaster, the list of American celebrities sending well wishes read on the news was like President Obama, Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper, and Tom Cruise.
You know who is a little underrated historically is Cyndi Lauper, she can sing and is genuinely a big old weirdo. That’s the two most important things about modern pop stars.

Tommy usually checks out by halftime anyway
Tuberville: "Unfortunately we've got the Woke Bowl, because we're getting more and more woke. We got Bad Bunny or Bad Rabbit at halftime. I'll be watching the TPUSA halftime show. It's just unfortunate we've gotten to this point."

The sad thing about Adam McKay is that he could just pull a David Lynch and say partisan politics are stupid, he's not getting involved, he'll let his art speak for itself and it'd be way more effective than any other intervention he could make.

The Minneapolis resistance is getting object lessons in what wrecking is in real-time, but unfortunately the lesson doesn't seem to be taking
Okay so unfortunately I’ve been removed from rapid response networks, at least in my immediate area. I think even alerting you of this would be deemed a violation of principles but given how much I’ve talked about it I do feel the need to say what’s up.

my friend is one of the eight people in New York who bought a ticket to see Melania. Last night he left his ticket on his dashboard and this morning he noticed his car has been broken into and there were two tickets to Melania on the dashboard!!!!!

Has this ever happened to you? Two of the dumbest people alive (Meghan McCain and Karol Markowicz) make a right wing talking point but you have no rejoinder?
Honestly can’t tell if it’s a bit at this point

So I found out this is one of the ICE agents involved in this incident.

Yeah, Reuters is reporting that ICE is now explicitly ordering agents to turn back whenever they see "agitators" like @whstancil.bsky.social, which logically means they can no longer abduct people at the presence of watchers and commuters

Not enough is made of the fact that David Brooks left his wife for his research assistant who was half his age and wrote a book about how it was moral, actually
That was during his foray into ehtics, government thing should work out better.

I'm in a bunch of subreddits for shows that stopped making new episodes and they're pretty much all slash fiction now

Very important, re: Trump
it’s remarkable he’s hitting this point with a bunch of shoes that haven’t really dropped yet. Epstein, the economy, foreign policy are all holding him down but none of them have hit a real flashpoint. Tremendous downside potential!

The positive thing here is that she's been frozen out of doing her actual job so she's just doing makework that'll go nowhere. The negative thing here is that um, I think we have a DNI for a reason?
The Trump administration recognized that Tulsi Gabbard was wildly unqualified/too much of a nutjob for her post running U.S. intelligence, so they've given her some busy work (the busy work is trying to unravel American democracy). www.wsj.com/politics/ele...

As Tom Homan vows "safer" ICE operations, ICE rammed into a driver's car in Minneapolis—in front of an elementary school—then chased him. After failing to catch him—they stole his car. "Back up before I f*cking spray you!" ICE yelled at observers ⬇️

Just a reminder, the greatest living American historian filmmaker, Ken Burns, released a 720 min exploration of every facet of the American revolution using zero generative AI and paying for all of its assets instead of cobbling it from stolen data, then he gave it away for free on PBS this year.
First trailer for Darren Aranofsky's new AI animated series 'On This Day... 1776'

• Tells short narrative stories about the Revolutionary War

• Uses Gen AI tools, including tech made by Google DeepMind

• Has SAG voice actors
