I have sympathy for this argument, given America's experience of watching ticket-splitting get them atrocious Presidents, but I also can't take it that seriously while looking at the UK's fragmented party system under FPTP.
There's no a priori reason why the Democrats can't be supplanted.

Here's the thing, she's right. The problem is that adding Reihan Salam and Coleman Hughes to your on-air stable doesn't fix the problem. It's like a doctor telling you that you need to exercise more and eat better then say it's fine if you drink Mountain Dew and play Call of Duty all day.
