In this week's newsletter I wrote about Republicans' plan to win in 2026. Is it doing popular things? No, it's trying to get Democrats to nominate candidates with lots of baggage radio-free-america.beehiiv.com/p/why-are-mi...
Why Are Michigan Republicans Meddling in a Democratic Primary?st
Michigan Republicans target a Democratic primary, strategically backing a controversial candidate to influence the state senate special election race in a calculated political maneuver.

suozzi sucks but i’m sorry his district is not liberal and cosmopolitan. it’s mostly nassau county, long island, and went for trump in ‘24. (you also may remember that suozzi won a special election to replace george santos…)
Suozzi is a failson who has lost more big democratic primaries than he’s won.

His district is liberal, cosmopolitan, and educated. Immigration is a core part of the civic history of the area.

Someone can primary this guy and win. If I was in a position to move back from CA, I would do it myself.
We should make their political lives miserable until they resign, retire, or end their terms.

Assuming this is about ICE I guess it’s worth reiterating that shutting down over the DHS appropriations bill will halt many government functions (including many that help people), but ICE, which was pre-funded in a bill passed along party lines with no Dem votes, is not one of those functions.

RIP Dan. A true friend and an all time Philly guy. I will miss hanging out with him in Wildwood and the weird bootleg stuff he would randomly send to me.

Forgot about Andy, another sports Internet OG poster. At the very least, it'd be great if the Philly teams did a tribute to Dan like the Detroit ones did for him www.freep.com/story/sports...

Maybe this is maudlin but I feel like we need some type of Oscars montage for the posters we lost this year. Guys like Dan McQuade, Mike Fossey and Kaleb Horton contributed so much to online culture, but everything about it is so impermanent. People need to know who they were.

I first met Dan McQuade twenty years ago at a Phillies game and through our friendship, he taught me everything I know about Philadelphia and about compassion for the vulnerable. I treasure the time we ran a baseball blog with @kliakos.com and @drewgrof.bsky.social and I miss him so much already.

Dan McQuade was so much to so many people. More than anything, he was a cool, funny guy that you wanted to hang out with. Here he is in his element, doing anthropology on the t-shirts on the Wildwood boardwalk defector.com/dan-and-dave...

Actually it's not Trump that's doing it! It's the hundreds of Republican state lawmakers who've backed laws that eliminate vaccine requirements that are doing it.
This is just as much a public policy choice as occupying Minnesota is. It's also even less popular. There's a lot out there, but Dems should be making it clear that Trump is doing this.

All these ICE agents look like they're about to eat an ortolan
I'm starting to think the Trumpist mastery of propaganda is failing them. The DHS agents posing this way makes it look like they're ashamed of themselves.
