ANALYSIS: Ohio Democrats show when a bad map is a good deal
Aaron Kleinman writes, "Ohio Democrats just gave up a congressional district to Republicans. Good on them."

I don‘t think the public will become less transphobic but i do think culture war shit against such a small group is essentially a luxury good and with a bad economy they’ll stop giving a shit.
I think Democrats should double down on trans rights now. It's obvious that most voters don't care about it so you might as well stick with your principles and goad Republicans into focusing on it at the expense of everything else so they're the ones who look like freaks.

I don't know if I've even seen a bankshot strategy in politics work as well as the "healthcare shutdown" the Dems came up with / accidentally backed into as the only way to unify their conference

somehow we've now got Republicans debating healthcare bills it's crazy www.ms.now/news/trump-a...
Trump wanted to extend Obamacare health care subsidies. Some congressional Republicans are upset.
It looks like the president may have to go back and tinker with his plan.

One thing I’d like to see with building codes is some of the onerous mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rules brought in line with national standards, and the main barrier to that is the construction trades (since inefficiencies create work). So it is interesting to see none of them on the list.

this dumb shit is what i mean when i say this is a purely aesthetic “politics.” yeah man, why can’t we have a fusion of cosmopolitan social democracy and revanchist hierarchies of wealth and privilege? tough question.
Matt Stoller: “..Trump & Mamdani defeated establishment in their own way, representing hunger of voters on the right & left who want something different. If those sides cd come together.. that would be a sea change in how we organize our political economy”.

The year is 2037. The Polish right are using the stereotype of the "migrant British plumber" as a rhetorical device to split a rival coalition.
Over at the Daily Telegraph, they're scratching their heads as to why the former mining and steel producinv city of Gliwice in Poland is now 45% more prosperous than Darlington... and why it has new shiny infrastructure... without mentioning EU funds for urban and regional development...

Like the Afghanistan pullout it also came at the same time people started getting mad about the economy and was the moment people who weakly supported him were like well I didn't vote for this.
it's very fitting that in retrospect, Trump's failure to oust Jimmy Kimmel was the point that his administration turned. It's been all losses ever since

We really do have two different kinds of law now: District Court law (aka the law), and Supreme Court "law" (aka the U.S. House of Lords upholding Trump's personalist regime)
I don’t know what the Supreme Court will do, but I am confident that at the District Court level it is still the case that the Pentagon cannot recall a sitting US Senator to active duty in order to court martial him for something he said. Article 1, Section 6, among other constitutional provisions.

one thing thats crazy about the current era in the states is that it is clear across most domains that science got processed by a lot of people as "traumatic encounter with the real" and now they are just making decisions based on that trauma.

Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

Don't do any of this. Lizzie is just trying to keep you from that delicious turkey meat. Make sure you film it to prove her wrong.
Listen to me: if you are thinking of deep frying a turkey, I want you to go on YouTube right now and learn from those mistakes.

Then I want you to buy a level. And a fire extinguisher. And review high school physics. And your insurance policies.

Speeding apologist Assembly Member Michael Novakhov has finally endorsed the "Stop Super Speeders" bill, prompted by the lenient sentencing of recidivist speeder Miriam Yarimi who killed a mother and two of her children.

Media literacy is down, so to be clear, when the WSJ writes “Ultimately, the fact pattern Meta relies on to meet its conflicting objectives strains credibility” about your accounting practices and runs an accompanying flowchart, that is the equivalent of a 500-foot neon sign reading “FRAUD”
This feels like one of those stories you're going to look at a year from now and say to yourself, "Why didn't I move more of my portfolio into cash?" **
