In this week's newsletter I wrote about Republicans' plan to win in 2026. Is it doing popular things? No, it's trying to get Democrats to nominate candidates with lots of baggage radio-free-america.beehiiv.com/p/why-are-mi...
Why Are Michigan Republicans Meddling in a Democratic Primary?st
Michigan Republicans target a Democratic primary, strategically backing a controversial candidate to influence the state senate special election race in a calculated political maneuver.

This is all stupid bullshit but I remain pretty disgusted at how things like marriage and having children are treated like Xbox achievements instead of actually loving and caring for someone else. Yeah I’m going to work 70 hours a week but definitely need a spouse, her name is Beth or something idk

Been noticing this more, people with newborns basically not doing anything with their kids or having visitors until they at least receive their 3-month vaccines.
As the CDC removes vaccines from its childhood schedule, vaccination rates decline and measles spreads, parents are trying to figure out how to keep their children safe — including, in some cases, by limiting their activities or seeking vaccinations early. I talked to a number of them. Gift link:

I cannot tell you how much doubt was consistently directed at the Gaza Health Ministry’s casualty numbers and how much pressure was put on news organizations to couch those numbers as unreliable.

Biden himself said they were fabricated!

Yes. Get one or two truly great speakers and real sound. The “everybody in the coalition must get their chance at mic” instinct is admirable but misplaced in the moment.
OK, so this gives us a couple of months to up our rally game in the Twin Cities (though I suspect the problems are fairly common).

Nearly every protest these days has the same two problems:

1) No one can hear.
2) They go on too long.

We can work on that!

As @jenniferkates.bsky.social reminds me, it was Dan McQuade who was at Hannibal Burress's October 2014 show at the Troc when he said “You rape women, Bill Cosby,” happened to be recording it, made it go viral, and from then on no one ever could forget or deny who Bill Cosby was.
Hannibal Buress on Bill Cosby: 'You're a Rapist'
Comedian Hannibal Buress called Bill Cosby a rapist in a bit at the Trocadero on Thursday night. Cosby has been accused of sexual assault by multiple women.

suozzi sucks but i’m sorry his district is not liberal and cosmopolitan. it’s mostly nassau county, long island, and went for trump in ‘24. (you also may remember that suozzi won a special election to replace george santos…)
Suozzi is a failson who has lost more big democratic primaries than he’s won.

His district is liberal, cosmopolitan, and educated. Immigration is a core part of the civic history of the area.

Someone can primary this guy and win. If I was in a position to move back from CA, I would do it myself.
We should make their political lives miserable until they resign, retire, or end their terms.

Assuming this is about ICE I guess it’s worth reiterating that shutting down over the DHS appropriations bill will halt many government functions (including many that help people), but ICE, which was pre-funded in a bill passed along party lines with no Dem votes, is not one of those functions.

Maybe this is maudlin but I feel like we need some type of Oscars montage for the posters we lost this year. Guys like Dan McQuade, Mike Fossey and Kaleb Horton contributed so much to online culture, but everything about it is so impermanent. People need to know who they were.
