An attorney for Horton wrote in a statement that Horton is "eager to address his case in court so he can return his focus to bettering the lives and education of children."

"His leadership bettered the school system for the children and families of District 65," the attorney said.

Most of these claims come from Field Office Director Russell Hott, who runs the Chicago ICE office

Hott said ERO used over $100,000 in less-lethal ammo from Sept. 6 to Sept. 20

The full response is 132 pages long and a hearing is scheduled for Thursday on this

The admin is claiming more than thirty officers are injured during "assaults on federal law enforcement" and says an officer tore their ACL, another's beard was "ripped from an officer's face" (?), among other injuries (see below)

They accuse protesters of being "organized" and "brought onsite in vans."

(But provide zero evidence or citations to this specific claim, probably because it's untrue)

They also claim "rioters have sought to permanently maim ERO personnel" (with strobe lights and whistles)

The feds filed the response late tonight and accuse protesters at the Broadview ICE facility of being organized "violent opportunists, rioters, and protesters."

The administration is accusing protesters of vandalizing, among other things, a plumbing spout at the ICE facility...

NEW: Photos from the Sept. 19 protests that included Kat Abughazaleh being thrown to the ground by ICE agents and multiple others, including Abughazaleh, Daniel Biss and Bushra Amiwala being tear gassed appear in the government's response to Illinois' lawsuit blocking Ntl. Guard

Inbox: Daniel Biss’ congressional campaign said the Evanston mayor raised over $600,000 in Q3

He raised $702,000 in the first few months if his campaign and his campaign says he had more then $1 million in cash on hand

Oh and saying “agent intelligence that indicates there’s illegal alienage in a particular place or location.”

Like what?

Which is still pretty clearly racially profiling…

As Bovino said in the WBEZ interview, their “suspicion” of someone being illegal was “proven true”
mattheweadie.bsky.social
“Articulable facts” very likely corresponds to SCOTUS’ ruling that you can racially profile people if they’re exhibiting enough stereotypical features of undocumented people

(I.e., look Hispanic AND speak Spanish AND work low wage jobs, in the words of Brett Kavanaugh)

The funny part about this is that the @chipmitchell1.bsky.social asked CBP this and the head of CBP pretty explicitly explained it
mattheweadie.bsky.social
Publishing misinformation and then having someone on a podcast to definitively refute your blatantly false claims to then turn around and say you were “balanced” and provided “both sides for the people to decide what’s true” is as ridiculous as it sounds

“Fact-based reporting” lmao

Absolutely INSANE use of passive voice in this CNN piece

just incredible

@katmabu.bsky.social “landed on the ground” during the protest???
At least one other person, who identified herself on social media as Kat Abughazaleh, a former journalist also running for Congress, landed on the ground during that same protest after she was pushed by a federal law enforcement agent in a camouflage uniform wearing a full face covering, sunglasses and a helmet, video by CNN affiliate WBBM showed.
