I like writing dialogue. It's fun, it's "easy" because while they're talking, I don't have to figure out what everyone's wearing or doing with their hands. It's also one of the ways I use to flesh out characters, because people generally talk the same, there are subtle differences to their speech patterns or tword choice that I think reflect who they are.

I'd love to spend all my "writer" time actually writing, but there are definitely non-writing things that take up part of my day-to-day schedule. And I don't mean the editing or the outlining or cover design (which are all things that crop up, don't get me wrong, but they're still writing-adjacent in my mind). Alas, a larger and larger chunk of my time goes into promotion and marketing.

Recently I talked about my favorite hockey tropes, and it got me thinking about the other things I write. Hockey romance is only a recent (ish) thing for me - I started with fanfic, usually in verse before branching into AUs that were contemporary or historical romance. But even in vastly different genres, I do find a lot of overlap in what I'm doing.
