Seeing people I’ve trusted time after time betray me and fuck me over has left me too hurt to fully interact with this fandom. Most people just seem to care about being liked by everyone, and being popular, and will burn you for the sake of being seen. This isn’t why I joined the fandom in 2009.

Too many people turned their heads when me and my partner had our little homewreck us with friends of ours that we trusted, which broke me. It’s not other people’s responsibility to care about my bullshit, but when you see people being evil and vile you say something. Staying quiet is the problem.

And the people that continue to support the bad actors. When someone does something wrong you correct it, you don’t look the other way. Too many people turned their heads when I was abused, too many people turned their heads when I cried for help.

I think readjusting to focus on local groups and the friends I’ve made along the way is the way to go. I’ll still go to cons, I’ll still be on telegram, but I have zero interest in the toxic culture social media has created for us, as well as sharing spaces with bad actors.

It’s that time of year again, hope you all have fun and I’ll be back on here when the fun is over. BFC is still tied to something traumatic for me and I’ve been working really hard to move past it. Every day I get better but I still have more work to do.
