Here's the deal #AtheistSky. We want to help you connect with on-the-ground activists, communities, journalists, academics, partners, and allies who are working to protect religious equality and combat White Christian Nationalism. Here's a starter pack to kick things off. Who else we should add?

Memo to Mike Johnson and his White Christian Nationalist ilk: We march not because we hate America but because we hate what they're doing to America.
This is what democracy looks like. #NoKings
We're all we've got. And we're all we need.

#NoKings
No Gods, No Kings, No Petty Tyrants. Not today, not ever.

The reality is that No Kings has partners of all faiths and none. Plus veterans, LGBTQ orgs, environmental advocates, and good government groups. The protests look like the real America — not the homogeneous, ahistorical America Johnson and his ilk want for us (and are desperate to pretend existed).

And Barrasso, the #2 Senate Republican, chose to single out American Atheists in his floor speech Thursday attacking #NoKings as an implicit endorsement of the Christian Nationalist worldview that atheists are inherently un-American.
Mike Johnson on No Kings: "We refer to it by its more accurate description -- the Hate America Rally. You're gonna bring together the Marxists, the socialists, the antifa advocates, the anarchists, and the pro-Hamas wing of the far left Democrat Party. That is the modern Democratic Party."

Someone should send a thank you note!

Nick Fish of @atheists.org says his group is a #NoKings sponsor but not leading it in any meaningful sense.

"The simple presence of atheists, to some of these people, is viewed an un-American. There's nothing more American than protesting our leaders and demanding better."

What a trash headline. Employees could ALWAYS pray in the workplace. This memo allows coercive proselytizing, potentially creating hostile work environments for rank-and-file staff when their supervisor starts trying to "persuade [them] of the correctness of their own religious views."
Federal employees can pray and preach in the workplace under new Trump rules
The White House noted that similar language was issued under President Clinton.

Such a bizarre and short-sighted decision. @recoveringfromreligion.org does incredibly valuable work for folks working to heal from very real trauma. It's baffling why St. John's Pride would go out of its way to stigmatize the 50%+ of LGBTQ+ people who are nonreligious. (via @friendlyatheist.com)

249 years ago, the world's first secular democratic republic was founded by freethinking skeptics, its Declaration drafted by a so-called "howling atheist."

Today, we remember our roots, and we fight in the great American tradition against the establishment of religion and "tyranny over the mind."
Sick of politicians praying instead of policymaking? Same.

We aren't waiting for miracles. Real change happens when regular people show up, stand up, and demand better.

Today's decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor is yet another assault on our nation's education system, part of the White Christian Nationalist Movement's decades-long project to destroy secular public schools.
Make no mistake: this is an all out attack on our nation's public schools, allowing an extreme few to veto any lessons that conflict with their religious beliefs. It won't stop at LGBTQ characters in books.

NEW from me: A deep dive into OMB Director Russell Vought — specifically, how his plan to reshape the government is rooted in a specific ideology: Christian nationalism.

Also, his favorite religious quote from an early president may be, uh…not true. religionnews.com/2025/06/23/r...

WASHINGTON (RNS) — The director of the US budget has declared that Christians should be 'stewards of a blessing that has been God-given: to live in this land, this particular land.'

We stand in solidarity with our friends at @atheists.org & humanists across the globe. It's ridiculous and deeply embarrassing that our home - one of the first countries to constitutionally guarantee the right to free speech - is now considered an unsafe place for religious minorities to gather.
It simply is no longer viable for us to hold the 2026 World Humanist Congress in Washington DC as planned, with the US in the state it is. Delighted to announce that we will instead be hosted by the wonderful people of Ottawa, Canada!
We are grateful to our partners at @humanists.bsky.social and @humanistcanada.bsky.social for their willingness to take on this event. We are united in our unshaken support for reason, religious freedom, and equal rights for *all* people, not just the select few favored by religious nationalists.
Critics of the administration have had their visas denied or cancelled, been refused entry at our airports, and have even been detained for weeks on end. Sadly, we simply cannot guarantee the safety of our guests, especially those from the global south. This is the sad reality of America today.
It is no longer possible for us to welcome our global atheist, humanist, and non-religious family from across the world to the United States. The Trump Administration has made it crystal clear that dissenting voices, particularly those critical of religious nationalism, are not welcome.
