President of @atheists.org. Adopted. Philadelphian by choice, but forever a Midwesterner.
Impeaching, removing, trying, convicting, and imprisoning Emil Bove is the moderate position.
UPDATE: DOJ filed its response, maintaining its opposition to contempt proceedings, but identifying Ensign, Blanche, Bove, Mazzara, and Noem as having been involved in discussions from Boasberg’s March 15 TRO to the decision not to “recall the flights” taking people to El Salvador under the AEA.

District judges (sort of) have to grapple with the actual effects of their actions. People who view the politics, policies, and the law as a Purely Academic Exercise™—including circuit court judges and SCOTUS—are a plague on our nation and are accelerating our slide into authoritarianism.
District court judges are engaged in a bipartisan project of [forgive me] actually calling balls and strikes. Republican circuit judges are largely going full-tilt partisan.

Very much mixed feelings on this. On the one hand, the continued direct association of Scouting with the military is doing a disservice to scouts. On the other, holy shit is Hegseth a fragile little bitch.
U.S. ready to cut support to Scouts, accusing them of attacking 'boy-friendly spaces'
Documents show the U.S. military is planning to sever all ties with the organization formerly known as the Boy Scouts.

"Routinely" wearing an Elvis wig "on or about October 31" might be kinda boneheaded but him asking litigants if they'd seen his campaign materials and engaging in electioneering from the bench is, uh, a much more substantive concern.
Judge Matthew Thornhill's burning love for Elvis Presley prompted him to occasionally wear an Elvis wig on the bench — behavior that a judicial conduct commission cited in calling for him to be suspended and then resign. Court documents say he agreed to step down after nearly 20 years on the bench.

Judge Matthew E.P. Thornhill also talked about politics and played Elvis songs in court, a judicial commission said.

The party that promised "free speech on campus" has made sure there can be no free speech on campuses.
This week, I withdrew from a speaking engagement at a public university because they sent me a list of prohibited “words & concepts.” I will not humor this censorship. It does a disservice to the stories I’m discussing & the audience, who deserve unfettered access to information & conversation.

If you're trying to convince your friends to spend time on Bluesky rather than X, maybe show them this. X is not "the public town square" or about "free speech." It's "just what Elon Musk wants you to see." If you see stuff he doesn't like he'll step in to make sure you don't see it for long.
If you scroll on X, you are only being shown what Elon wants you to see. If you create content on X, no one will see it unless Elon wants them to.

So when it's "ballots might take a day or two because of the way the mail works," Jason is saying even the perception of a problem is bad. But when it comes to sexually harassing your students or palling around with a convicted sex trafficker and pedophile, meh, whatevs. Got it.

Great work, WaPo.

I discuss this every year with my team. We pay 100% of their premiums. Asked them if they'd rather have cheaper plans with higher deductibles — and we'd give them the difference as salary and a stocked HSA/FSA. No one wanted that. EVERYONE didn't want to have to worry about navigating the system.
Dr. Oz is clearly a moron who, incredibly, doesn't understand anything about how the insurance system works.

But also: Conservatives genuinely believe that people want to spend endless hours "choosing the insurance that's best for them." They don't. They want good, secure health care. It's simple.
