Returning to VCF Midwest two years later on LGR!

And wow has it changed. It feels like an almost entirely different show! 66,000 square feet of vintage computers, retro hardware, software, and old school goodness of all kinds. Here's what the show was like (for me) in 2025!

3 TB of #VCFMW 2025 presentation footage copying over. This may take a while to edit and upload.
Heh. Thats from my table, got em’ from the free pile. Probably going to make them say different three stooges quotes when you hit them, like “oh a wise guy huh?” Type stuff.
And thats a wrap! As of 2 hours ago the venue is closed up and all equipment has been packed into the truck. Tetris is not just a game sometimes, and today I won 🚚
Great seeing/meeting everyone at #VCFMW it was an incredible event as always. See yall’ next year!

AMPS is alive at VCF Midwest! Another way to get billed by ShadyTel. #VCFMW #VCFMidwest
And to clarify, at this point we had some horrendous ping issues so we were mocking the server host :P
It got solved soon afterwards
#VCFMW was in full swing tonight with everyone setting up. Capped off the night playing some unreal tournament in a good ol’ fashioned LAN party. My machine decided it didn’t want to have windows explorer to run anymore, but progman and CMD made it work just fine. See everyone tomorrow. Now to sleep
And before someone asks, yes the stuff on the rack was moved. It was put there temporarily while I loaded the last few things in.
Its all packed! All ready for Friday unloading at #VCFMW
Took all day to do and my arms feel like wet noodles, but its done. Now I go collapse in bed. 🛌
I should probably post this *somewhere*
I will be at #VCFMW showcasing some extremely rare pieces of A/V tech. Zenith PhoneVision and a Sony PV-100 VTR. Look for table group G and I’ll be there!

Me being told by the developer that no, they will not accept my 60's blueprints, $75000 for an 8000 square foot plot is barely a tenth the value of the land and to leave the site immediately because I'm trespassing. (2025)
If you ever make a website, you gotta scan those and make it the background. It would make a great collage.

I have always had a strong appreciation of artwork, especially in tech with bespoke things such as Smart Cards. It's kinda neat to look at these designs and think about the thought processes behind it.

i'm proud to have been involved in the creation of this new book from @nostarchpress.bsky.social, Designing Electronics That Work! it's full of useful material for anyone who wants to build anything electronic and bring it to mass production.

And depending on the tip you’re using you can put it through it too and clean the whole thing without taking it apart
Motor current meter showing the servo lock come up. (the original meter is unfortunately dead.
Now with audio. (It sounds way better in person)

I screwed up the audio recording while i was idly working but my excitement is visible

sad that the subminiature AC power plug never took off. the design was inherently safe since kids couldn't fit forks or scissors in
Taking it slow at the end here and making sure everything is correct. Cleaning and polishing the heads and replacing the felt pads and such. I’m also taking a page out of BandersonTV’s book and using ring terminals as cap lugs. Works great!
