IMHO, they still do some great things. But they have savaged every Democratic candidate of my lifetime, except Obama. And it’s damaged the nation.

Now, you might ask: why does it bug me? Simple. Because the Democrats had a president from a modest background who enacted policies good for workers. His name was Joe Biden! And the pompous aristocrat who publishes the NYT did everything in his power to destroy him.

Take Asians. On average, they now earn much more than whites. Are we surprised they mostly vote Democratic? Does it signify that the Dems have become an upper-class party?

In fairness, the NYT uses income. But pollsters often use college as a measure of Class, even though it isn’t a great proxy.

None of this is a mystery on a granular level. Older cohorts are less educated. Southern and rural whites are less educated. They have lower incomes than urban non-whites.

Have the Democrats declined among people without college? Yes. That’s mostly because they’re getting wiped out in rural and small town America. Part of that is protectionism. But it’s also because Trump is willing to lie about his agenda in ways no politician would before.

It’s complete horse shit. If they regressed for age, gender, and location, much of it would go away.

That is, the richer the person over fifty, the more likely they are to be GOP. Same with women. Same with Bostonians. The Dems gained with the affluent because half of the well-to-do are women.

Anyone seen the budget? Are they are here in DC working on one?
