The word MEANDER comes from Maiandros, the Greek name for a winding river in Turkey.

Over time this word has meant: confusion, to wander aimlessly, a winding passage.

I love it, b/c the river & the word make me think of a dotty old man's path as he wanders around the house looking for his keys.

The Menderes River in Greece, the source of the word Meander. A picture of a river not a straight line but running left to right and back again, like a squiggle from an infants pen. It is surrounded by green fields.

I was listening to History Hits, “The Ancients” podcast about #Myths. They mentioned one called “the devil and the smith” and I wonder if the Andersen’s “The Red Shoes” story is a variation of it 🤔
