We went with my mom to the lovely celeb cemetery in Westwood Village, some of my all-time favorites are taking their final naps there. But this is potentially the single greatest headstone of all time, my man.
Headstone reads “JACK LEMMON in” with the grave directly below.

A tale as old as time: I came down to my office to move some files on the computer & ended up spending three hours making an electro new wave hip-hop version of Napoleon XIV’s 60s novelty classic “I’m Happy I Live In A Split Level Head.”

The extraordinarily talented and versatile Diane Keaton in Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977). RIP

Twice more actually! For The Wrestler and In The Bedroom! She’s always been an incredible talent.

Go police somebody else, you joyless loser.

It takes some serious effort to smoke Joe Pesci off the screen, she made it look easy

It is so palpably un-good

Seriously, trying to run down other 90s performances that would rival Mona Lisa for sheer fun or memorability. You’re honestly looking at like Hopkins/Foster in Silence Of The Lambs, DDL/Pfeiffer/Ryder in Age Of Innocence, Robert Forster in Jackie Brown, Hackman in Unforgiven, the Shawshank boys.

There’s that really pernicious rumor that Marisa Tomei wasn’t *supposed* to win her Oscar (it’s the performance of the decade, dawg), and I’d just like to know where that energy is for Jared Leto, a man with, as far as I can see, no discernible talent. Not for acting, anyway. Or music.

Oh, and of course, after writing the Alien shooting script & in among directing The Warriors and The Driver and Streets Of Fire and Southern Comfort (goddamn masterpiece), he found time to create the Tales From The Crypt series and Deadwood lol. Most underrated might be Johnny Handsome, GREAT flick.

Oooh, I am very much the target audience for this, I am a Walter Hill superfan haha. Thank you!
bafflegabs.bsky.social
I will never stop beating the drum that Walter Hill is the real creative force to pay attention to behind the original Alien trilogy, Sigourney said that despite the final Writers’ Guild credit it was Walter & his co-writer’s name on the shooting script, & they added the androids. So, make this plz.

Alien 5

Sigourney Weaver: "Walter Hill is a very good friend of mine, and he wrote 50 pages where Ripley would be now, and they are quite extraordinary. I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but I have had a meeting with Fox, Disney, or whoever it is now. I said I have never felt the..."

HH records on Saturdays. And sometimes Tuesday nights! (This information current circa 2019 haha)

Like, Dec 2018, who else’s handwriting would it be! It was such a goddamn pleasant place to work when you ran the cal haha

Wow, okay, I sort of busked this, but then remembered I have a photo and it turns out that I was specifically referencing December 19, 2018 lolol.
The white board outside of Earwolf Studio 2:

Recording
11. 30-1230 Freakonomics
12:30-2:30 Conan
3-Spm How Did This Get Made

Despite the number of times people made the joke, the wolf sort of is finally dead now, SXM retired the name on all branding. So a doc HAS to happen at some point, an absolutely ludicrous amount of the most notable comedic talent of the decade(s) had a show there or were on a show there. RIP!

Like a Tuesday in Nov 2019 would be “hey so today you’re recording Freakonomics at 9, we’re just doing Scott’s end of the interview, then Conan has Eric Idle, then HDTGM is in with Daniel Radcliffe, and then Paul’s gonna do the mini” & there was no lunch break but the coffee was on tap & it was rad.

There’s almost nothing I treasure more than time spent listening to Bob talk about songwriting over a coffee. There is nobody on this planet more serious about their craft than him, I mean it!
bafflegabs.bsky.social
How few tracks can I use and still have it feel complete? How portable can I be in writing and even completing songs in different places? How close can I get to sounding like Broadcast without it being ridiculous haha? All these questions and more…

I had to go in to the studio over the last week to record episodes with Pally & Gabrus, Joel Kim Booster, Nicole & Sasheer, PFT, Scotty Aux, Zouks, Bang Rodgman, & Casey Wilson, & if you squinted it was almost like old Earwolf. Which was nice to feel 1/10 of, those were some magic clubhouse vibes!!

I bought the goddamn Orchid today, ten minutes before the pre-sale ended, I am so excited. I can feel what my next record is going to feel like, and it needs this little dude in a pole position. Gauzy, dreamy, hypnotic. It can do an F#min jazz!! youtu.be/hbO1z13WP8o?...

Absolute elite tier! Up there with Force Of Evil, The Naked City, The Big Heat, Body & Soul. Fav line: "Joe, tell the man I'm gonna break him so fast, he won't have time to change his pants.”
bafflegabs.bsky.social
“Stole” is a pretty specific word implying something nefarious. You can see why what you said didn’t really read as “he did it so much better that it barely seems like a NIN song anymore” and came off more like “Johnny Cash ripped Trent Reznor off.”
bafflegabs.bsky.social
It was even from one of a long and very successful series of records of almost entirely covers haha. Did he steal Rusty Cage too? Somebody call Nick Cave, Johnny Cash has done a thievery haha
