Wait, the Faroes beat Czechia? That's an incredible result.

Gutted about Odegaard. Leaves us a little short assuming Eze will be his natural replacement - means with Madueke also out, our wide positions are as last season.

I'm tended to agree. To be doing this with injuries too...
beautifulgroan.bsky.social
Yeah it's definitely a concern for them (and good for everyone else). With Konate going off injured they've got problems back there.

I would've taken top four at this point and in the mix. To be here is a great platform to build on.

Exactly - he does clutch at straws when things go wrong - there were signs of it last season but not much went wrong so it didn't matter.

Mind you, most top managers are bad losers.

Slot: "Last week we lost in extra, extra time".

He really can't let that go.

(Don't get me wrong, Arteta hangs on to things too, I just find it funny when it's someone else...)

In all seriousness, a week ago we were five behind, with a tough game at Newcastle, and games against two sides (Olympiakos and West Ham) that we historically struggle with way more than we should.

The week had the potential to create quite the bad Interlull mood.

Instead, this. We move on.

Meanwhile, Liverpool lost their three fixtures.

In the last week, Arsenal have played three fixtures - Newcastle away, Olympiakos at home and West Ham at home - that they lost the last time the corresponding fixture was played.

They've won all three.

With the fixture list we were handed to open the season, that is an incredible stat.

Even the most optimistic wouldn't have predicted us to be top after seven games, when those seven games contained Liverpool, United, City and Newcastle, with three of those games being away.

But we are. Three goals conceded (one in open play) and another three wins and clean sheets in the cups.

Sky predicted that we'd end last weekend eight points behind Liverpool.

Fast forward seven days and we're one point ahead.

The injury time goal scale is still to balance in Liverpool's case, I see.

About time.

Arne Slot gets booked a lot.

That should probably be talked about more than it is.
beautifulgroan.bsky.social
Yep - it's their current story to knock us with.

"Wirtz's Liverpool career is yet to ignite, but we're sometimes too quick to pass judgement' say the commentary team on Sky.

The channel that earlier did a piece on why Gyokeres is such a flop so far.

Having said that, the Liverpool defence just backed off him and invited him to have a go.

Really poor from them and he made them pay.
beautifulgroan.bsky.social
Wow, that is some strike from Caicedo. Liverpool behind.

We've had a lot of pre-Interlull disappointments in recent times, so it's nice to go into the break with that one.
beautifulgroan.bsky.social
Boring, boring, Arsenal, but for a different reason.

Utter dominance against an admittedly poor West Ham, and despite not being at our best or taking all our chances, a completely comfortable win that was barely ever in doubt.
beautifulgroan.bsky.social
Ditto Rice.

Have to hope that Odegaard injury is enough to keep him home for international duty and no more.

This is an interesting read but it does make me wonder how Tierney ever passed a medical with us. He was fighting through horrific pain to play for Celtic - much as I love the fella you have to ask questions of how we went 'yeah, seems fine' before signing him.

This time last year, Inter had the best defence in the group stage. They're at it again, one of only two sides yet to concede out of 32.

The other - Arsenal. Best defence in the league, arguably the best defence in Europe.
