The horrors persist, but so do I Cats, dogs, Arsenal, music, yarn, books, chocolate digestives. Not necessarily in that order.

Well this was unexpected
We need to write stories like this down!

Repost!
For tge record i think all kids should be taught individually. Smaller class sizes. Bigger staff ratios. More diversity in teaching. I aced school really, without trying. But I cannot do online learning now. I need interaction. Others dont. So play to strengths.
I completely agree that kids need boundaries, but not every kid needs them enforcing the way they are, they are lazy, and without substanciation. Do as I tell you, but I wont explain why. And inflexible. Kids aren't 1 size fits all!
Thats actually a very sensible stance from a 17yo!
Yea very creepy!
We had a couple of pervy teachers (as we called them) but not on my radar so I only know stories. Questionable truth!
Was your school not typical because it was fee-paying? I wonder in what ways we differed.
What is it about the behaviour expectations that you are disagreeable towards? From an NT standpoint I mean (I really dont think I have a NT brain so I dont think i'm in a position to understand it from that view)
They would argue they have already have dedicated SEN teams-and they do - but from experience (mine and people i know) its just lip service. There's not enough investment for sure. And it should be child led. All education should be. They aren't mini adults.
Really? Wow that would be legend status!
No 6th form at our school
We all just left after our last exams
I feel it was strict in different ways, and though we rarely got detentions and no such thing as behaviour points, the teachers were brutal at times.
Our deputy head used to make kids walk around the playground holding her hand. Im talking 15 yr old boys. Humiliating 😂
We had a leavers party - not a prom. We had regular school discos tbh even ones at dinnertime in the school hall once a week, 30 min after tables were cleared. 10p entry!! Wow forgot about that. 30 min dancing and singing middle of the day, great decompressor
They normally fall out of bed, after much ...persuading* and leave without breakfast, because I'm a terrible parent who doesn't cook them pancakes and eggs and toast like on the telly and FB Perfect Parent Club...

*up and downstairs 20 times, pleading, bribing, threatening...
I have such a huge "to make" list, even if I started now I'll be dead before it's finished. But in my defence I *do* share it around to my friends 😂 oh i know a pattern for that!
And looking at patterns of stuff I might one day make, makes me happy too
Same! One thing I like about Ravelry is how easy it is to collect patterns to check out later, even tho I invariably forget to actually check my library before doing another search for the same thing 😂
I have seen something similar i think and I wish my knitting skills extended to colour work like that (i get flustered and tangled so avoid!)
Ive got a pattern with gloves that say fuck somewhere too. Will dig it out.
Btw...a Ravelry link...I see what you did there...nice touch 👏 😂
The Middlest has made, and is eating, pasta and pesto for breakfast
I could not be more proud
That doesn't sound very inclusive tbh 🤷 and it would be something I avoided!
Also I want to see the finished product please!
Just a few thoughts after reflecting on my childrens' difficult joyrneys through education.... Well done if you got to the end. I'd be interested in your thoughts and experiences
Have a great day and peace out ✌️
Its about time we actually put the child at the centre of everything we do as parents, as educators, as a society in general, instead of saying we do.
We didnt suddenly grow a population of ND people, we made life more difficult to navigate. Old coping mechanisms are obsolete or impossible
Children are quite literally our future. Why are we not doing more to protect, nuture, guide and care for them
We talk a good deal about safeguarding but in 1 6wk period my daughter didnt attend school last yr NOBODY reached out and checked we were OK
All that matters is attendance and grades
Our current education system is failing our kids. We are not preparing them for work. Im a nurse. Even i can wear my choice of uniform (scrubs, tunic or dress) And access the toilet outside of my break
It is preparing them to fail
We should be nurturing them not squeezing them into boxes
Attendance below 90% in y11 - excluded from Prom
(Fun fact: my daughter was excluded from Prom, poor attendance from EBSA and unsupported SEN, that is a storyline for another day )
