The issue, imo, is the ‘emotional linguistics’ of the original concern: ‘calling it fascism means people will give up hope’. This is basically (understandable) negative projection and a desire to control a very bad situation by controlling people’s language.
I’m okay with meriam webster’s definition. I’d be fine with any legit one you can find. Please tell me how this definition does not apply to the trump regime.

I also care about being clear with words. And I’ve been very clear with mine. And you seemed to assume I said the actual meanings of words was unimportant, when I didn’t say that. I’d say you’re the one not paying attention to the actual meaning of words.
