I’m fascinated by those integrated tins. I assume they stored things like flour and whatnot for easy access when baking. What a terrific idea, given the ubiquity of flour and sugar jars, etc, on every counter.

I’m tempted to rework some of our kitchen to do the same and free up some shelf space.

Architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky revolutionised housework with this fitted kitchen, 10,000 of which were installed across housing projects in Frankfurt, Germany.
By her own admission, Schütte-Lihotzky did not know how to cook. Rather she designed this compact space based on conversations with housewives about their daily work. Features like a pull-out chopping board for food preparation and easy-clean surfaces aimed to make domestic labour more efficient and hygienic.
The V&A collected this kitchen for its Modernism exhibition in 2005, as an example of a successful and influential kitchen from the 1900s.

… where you are born is random, where you live can change (for me 12 times), what school or university you go to depends on who selects you, etc. Why does the geography of chance suggest you should support a local team over any other? Maybe I like birds or cats so I should pick another state’s team.

All I know is, if one of only two paragraphs in the “history” section of a 23 y/o person’s wiki entry was devoted to who they killed or maimed, we probably shouldn’t let them linger in the public square. 😆😬
