The guy actually got a pretty close look at it, enough to see that it was the thorax specifically glowing

Cryptoctober Day 12: Bioluminescent Spider

After becoming lost in Myanmar, a man was shocked to see a strange glowing light. After approaching it, he found it was a spider with a glowing body, something no known species of spider can do.

Cryptoctober Day 9: Fisher pig

Old documents in Hungary once referred to a strange type of pig that would catch fish and crabs in the rivers instead of grazing on vegetation. The species allegedly went extinct at the end of the 19th century and no depictions are known to survive

Cryptoctober Day 8: Egyptian bear.

Although bears are believed to have only inhabited Northwestern Africa in recent times, there are occasional reports of them in Egypt. An Italian physician once reported that small, white furred bears lived and were tamed there in the 1700s

Cryptoctober Day 7: Waitoreke

Described as a beaver or otter in apperance, the waitoreke is a small but interesting New Zealand cryptid. New Zealand has no known native species of *any* land mammal, so the waitoreke is unlike anything on the islands.

Cryptoctober Day 6: Hairy monitor

One of the weirdest crossover cryptids, the "hairy monitor" is a Malian cryptid witnessed by several people in the 1960s. Eyewitnesses describe it as a large monitor lizard with chocolate brown hair that lived in a cave.

Cryptoctober Day 5: Arica Monster

In the early 2000s, Chile was rocked with reports of a weird bird/dinosaur/kangaroo looking monster attacking livestock. It moved with massive leaps and had large thighs. It's estimated speed was almost 60 mph (100km)

Third one for #Cryptoctober, based on the list by @bestcryptids.bsky.social . Rock Apes were reported during the Vietnam War. They were described as monkey, ape, even hominidlike. Rock Apes had the habit of throwing rocks, hence the moniker. #cryptozoology #art #sketchbook

Cryptoctober Day 4: El Cuero

Known as the "hide", el cuero is a South American lake monster described as a large blanket with claws along its outer edges that it uses to drag humans underwater. Theories on what it is range from an octopus, a ray, a jellyfish, and a eurypterid.

First entry for #cryptoctober . I used the list by @bestcryptids.bsky.social as they feature lesser known #Cryptids. Like Cleary's Fish, a Deep-sea Fish claimed to have been witnessed by a diver in a dive bell. #cryptozoology #art #drawing
Pencil drawing of a rather bizarre looking fish. Cryptid list by Legendary Cryptids.

Cryptoctober Day 3: Rock Apes.

Contrary to popular belief, rock apes are a diverse group of cryptids/animals. Reported mostly during the Vietnam War, they were named due to them often being reported throwing rocks. Some describe them as known monkeys, others as big unknown apes

Cryptoctober Day 2: Pach-an-a-ho

In the 1970s, a group of Yakima Native Americans allegedly saw a model of an extinct terror bird and excitedly compared it to an animal they had recently seen called the "pach-an-a-ho". There are no other known sightings.

Cryptoctober Day 1: Cleary's fish

Although he would not talk about his experience for some years, diver Mike Bell had an encounter with a strange fish off of the coast of Japan in 1992. While inside a diving bell, a 25 ft long elongated fish with "webbed limbs" swam past him

Almost 50 years after it was initially taken, a lost bigfoot photograph has finally been found, but with a twist: it was hiding in plain sight this whole time. Why was it missing? The answer involves an infamous and crazy bigfoot hunter.

Terrible news today about the most prolific bigfoot academic of the modern day, Jeff Meldrum has died. His work was immensely helpful in my own videos and he was well known as a nice guy in the cryptozoology world. A very sad day

Cryptozoology! The guy who founded cryptozoology wrote about living mammoths and moas alongside sea serpents and yetis. He never really seperated the two, especially since he theorized that many cryptids were lazarus taxa

On this day, one of the strangest sagas in iowa history began. We are currently preparing works related to the Ottosen bigfoot flap of 1978.
