Outside my room at the infusion center, people are gathered for an honor walk. I’ve just learned this is a ceremonial event that happens when a patient is going to the operating room for organ donation. Beautiful and sad.

The ophthalmologist’s receptionist told me there’s a copay. I asked if she gets a cut. She says no, have you had any exposure to the measles? I go you need to take 10 percent from everyone who comes through here. Stay somewhere warm in January. Go fishing. She says the doctor will see me shortly.

I took a songwriting class last night. Went back for another finger style guitar lesson tonight. I love this shit. You hear about middle-aged guys trying new things and rediscovering their joie de vivre. I’m telling you, you can be one of those guys.
