Simmering

I feel like a failure sometimes,
living with my partner and in-laws at 30
with a master's degree and a dead end job
using $14 an hour to pay for car mechanics
and paying down debt that creeps back up
applying for jobs I know I could do
not hearing back or rejected

Learning how to cook again
after living off lifelong frozen foods
and McDonald's coupons

I started this poem cause
I thought it could help someone
but while I get a lot of likes and follows
I'm not sure anyone else would benefit
from me being so candid about this
given most people don't read
the previous ones
I've written

I recognize
that that's selfish
people have limited time
why would they choose to
read this of all things?

Well the stew is
almost ready, and
I am quite proud of it
so that's something
plus our increasing
walks at the park

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.
