Introductory Accountancy ACCY101:

(A) Debts that are owed *to* us are *assets*.

(B) Debts that are owed *by* us are *liabilities*.

If you are selling (A), then you are selling our assets.

If you are selling (B), then yay😀 ... and good luck (yes, we'll need goof luck then!)

Selling off productive publicly owned companies/infrastructure to reduce govt debt is like selling off your car to reduce your mortgage, then taking an uber/taxi to work each day.

Sure you have lower debts, but it costs more in the long run.

Step one: engineer a recession and cancel infrastructure projects. Step two: get mad at people for not having a job

thespinoff.co.nz/politics/10-...
The Spinoff: In other words, we did it, folks. Joblessness is up. Inflation is down. Mince is admittedly four trillion dollars. But overall, success! Surely our government should be pulling a George W Bush and unfurling a mission accomplished banner above the rusted deck of the HMNZS Canterbury.

Instead, it called a press conference to say, in essence, wtf. Luxon and social development minister Louise Upston gathered reporters on Sunday to announce too many 18- and 19-year-olds were claiming the benefit, and they’ll be cutting them off if their parents earn more than the princely sum of $65,529 combined. Asked where young people should get a job in a recession, which, again, we deliberately engineered, Luxon pointed to kūmara harvesting in Dargaville or seasonal work in orchards. Orchardists promptly responded that they didn’t need more staff right now.

Free speech is when I encourage people to send you death threats; hate speech is when you tell me to stop.

Can you hear the words coming out of your mouth, Megan?

Yes, the guy who received so many threats because of your own actions he had to flee to Europe isn’t the real victim. No. You are, because people called you out.
Megyn Doyle, a student at Rutgers and the treasurer for the Turning Point USA chapter who started the Change.org petition to remove Bray, told Fox News Digital in a statement that Di Filippo's petition is slanderous.
"The petition once again proves that Conservative students are always on the receiving end of hate when speaking about concerning issues," Doyle said.

Govt to cut #JobSeeker benefit for 18 & 19 year olds who’s parents earn over $65,000, even if the teens have a disability or health condition. With #CostOfLiving & the job shortage they’re cranking up stress levels to 11, all to meet a target.
My #cartoon today about hard-nosed #NZpol
Cartoon. Title: “Job Seeee-e-e-e” Image shows PM Christopher Luxon at the open hatch of a small plane, high above farmland. He’s leaning out, and holding up a parachute pack, labelled “Job Seeker” He’s calling out to someone falling from the plane, “And I’ve kept your parachute because you kids from low-income homes need some motivation” Then he adds, “Don’t let that disability slow you down!”

It's now considered controversial to fight the KKK in a video game.
Alt text: A tweet from DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) reads: “Ubisoft canceled an ‘ASSASSINS CREED’ game set in the post–Civil War era. • Featured a Black Assassin who was formerly a slave • Players would fight the emerging KKK • Leadership canceled it after concerns with U.S. political climate & Yasuke backlash.” The source link is listed as “gamefile.news/p/scoop-ubisof…”. Below the text are two images side by side: on the left, a hooded Assassin in white and red armor from the Assassin’s Creed series; on the right, the red Assassin’s Creed logo on a plain background. You got hundreds of messages about how you and your child should die? They started because of some homophobic disinformation about you? You have to leave your job for your safety? lol okay bye.

So about that whole age verification for online platforms thing...

At first the Discord hack didn’t seem that bad because it was initially the third party help desk.

But then you find out they had got there age verification data. Come to find out they got 1.5 TB of government id and age verification data. This is going to become a case against age verification.

The only thing she'd be crushing is National's hope of winning the election
binkenstein.bsky.social
Wouldn't be surprised if some of them hold back so that they can take the leadership position after losing the next election with an eye on winning in 2029.

Are there any National MP's that want the top job, that are far enough from unpopular policies to not be tarred with the same brush, but powerful enough within the caucus that they would have enough support?

While I really don't want to go back to being "the business confidence data guy" of 2019. It is about a 40 point difference in party in power given similar conditions.

It is scattered all over Twitter because it was an albatross around my neck for many years. But I think these are the 3 main graphs.
Every other country's Business Confidence is a better predictor of GDP NZ Business Confidence is uniquely uncorrelated to GDP It is about political reckons and what the past was like
