My mother survived walking through Hiroshima the day after as a 13 year old, so I have a fair idea of what a nuclear holocaust looks and feels like

My son started at a decile 3 school. Originally kids could either wear the branded option or a plain one in same colour (navy bottoms, yellow polo) which we could buy from Warehouse/Kmart nice and cheap. Then they changed it and kids HAD to wear the new one. Had a one year transition I think. Shitty

I volunteered at a uniform bank, schools know parents/families can’t afford uniforms but won’t let kids attend until they have one. So many kids start late. Some schools didn’t like the uniform bank because it meant less money for them. It’s a disgrace penalising kids in low income families.

School uniforms which cost a ransom brand-new are solely a marketing tool for schools. Sure you can find secondhand but the items are usually well-worn & still 💵💵💵.

If they insist, schools could adopt a colour dress code without the need for a fucking expensive logo embroidered on every item
School uniforms are meant to be the great leveller, but as the cost of living crunch bites increasing numbers of Kiwi parents are crying foul at the cost of having to kit out their kids.

Airports across Asia have increased screening after a Nipah virus outbreak in India.

5 cases were reported in West Bengal, prompting surveillance in Thailand, Nepal and Taiwan. About 100 people are quarantined.

WHO warns Nipah can be fatal, with a 40–75% case fatality rate.

Let me fix this headline:

"Forestry companies not cleaning up their mess leave the NZ taxpayer with billions in damages from recent storms. "
Today from The Detail: Extreme weather may be the trigger for deadly and devastating slash, but the lines on who is responsible for prevention and clean-up are blurred.
Storms make forestry slash inevitable, so who's legally responsible?

NZ editors do well getting content in the DYK section on Wikipedia’s front page. Retired judge Coral Shaw on the 24th, Patricia Allan tomorrow, and Dorothy Spotswood on the 29th. Plus an NZ editor wrote an article on the UK “Fine to flush” scheme that will be there tomorrow!

This will send a warning to all.

And the "business" government should pull out their finger and bring it into law.
