My mother survived walking through Hiroshima the day after as a 13 year old, so I have a fair idea of what a nuclear holocaust looks and feels like
How DARE they!!!!! 🙄🙄😑

It’s why it’s important parents become involved either on the board or the PTA. I was on the board of my kids’ school for a number of years & it eventually led me into teaching. I learned a helluva lot being a trustee which has proven to be very useful ever since

The quality will be fine, but as you say he will grow out of it really quickly. In my experience from teaching them (& having one of my own), boys also have a tendency to care less about the state & ownership of their very expensive uniforms, much to their parent’s dismay

Now look, I’m trying to tread an intermediary line here.

Mufti always has issues with those who have & those who don’t have.

My son started at a decile 3 school. Originally kids could either wear the branded option or a plain one in same colour (navy bottoms, yellow polo) which we could buy from Warehouse/Kmart nice and cheap. Then they changed it and kids HAD to wear the new one. Had a one year transition I think. Shitty

Urgh! Thank the board for that. They get to make those decisions 😑

I volunteered at a uniform bank, schools know parents/families can’t afford uniforms but won’t let kids attend until they have one. So many kids start late. Some schools didn’t like the uniform bank because it meant less money for them. It’s a disgrace penalising kids in low income families.

This is another aspect of it which is truly disgusting.
My son started his new high school on a cold day before I’d had a chance to purchase a uniform jacket & he was traumatised when the principal picked him out & picked on him for wearing out of uniform.

It’s all about authority & control.

I really don’t know why students just can’t wear something appropriate and comfortable for them

I have found that part of “teaching” to be an absolute load of crock. Is the student sitting in front of me & engaged? That’s all I’ve ever cared about, never the policing of uniforms 😒

What does the Puerto Rican approach look like?

Look, just do them all, Chris!! 😅

The problem with schools is that many of them are run by people who can’t quite fathom the issues many families face when trying to kit their kids out at the start of a school year. Outside of uniforms, digital equipment requirements have absolutely sucked
