It’s monstrous. My wife teaches at a CPS HS in West Town and the teachers there are volunteering to walk students to/from bus stops and the train. She teaches Spanish and half the kids in her Heritage/Speakers class are staying home out of fear.

Thomas is 100% right. There's no law (yet) that a news network has to put proven liars on the air to lie to their audience. If a network thinks it needs to put Vance on because he's VP, the network needs to make the defense of truth so aggressive that Vance ends the interview and flees.

This is my neck of the woods — northern edge of Chicago into Evanston and Skokie. A Catholic church east of me about a mile is on lockdown with ICE agents nearby. Every morning starts with sirens and helicopters. We are definitely occupied.

Just saw an announcement from a kids soccer group that ICE agents have been spotted in the area, so it’s OK to skip today’s games if people are scared.
The MAGA assault on our community is intolerable and has nothing to do with making people’s lives better.
