"That was the whole point of the event. It had nothing to do with improving our national security and military readiness. It was a role-play session for undeserving straight, white guys who could never hack it and resent those who could."

And a celebration of them.

It's really sad how people struggling to free or defend their countries, like Zelensky and this woman, have to repeatedly debase themselves in front of this man because there is no longer any responsible leader of the Free World.

Trump: "The person who actually got the Nobel Prize called today, called me, and said 'I'm accepting this in honor of you, because you really deserved it.' A really nice thing to do. I didn't say 'Then give it to me, though.'"

C-SPAN caller to Mike Johnson: "Hearing you say that 'everyone is smiling' in cities where troops have been rolled into feels dystopian and insane watching the response to it."

EL PASO — a family says ICE showed up at their house looking for migrants and shot and KILLED THEIR DOG, then didn’t help them as the agent ran away and was not identified.

Gosh, if only there were a national organization that's dedicated to specifically advocating for gay Republicans and could push back within the GOP against Winsome Earle-Sears for her attacks on gay marriage and employment protections.

Wait... isn't that Log Cabin Republicans?

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Where do I contribute to Attorney General Letitia James’ legal fund?
charlotteclymer.bsky.social
I don't trust her, either. But if she wants to speak out against Trump and the GOP, I encourage it.

I'll take her speaking out against the GOP. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Marjorie Taylor Greene just said the Republican Party is “getting destroyed” during this government shutdown as they refuse to protect health care.

“Everyone’s just getting destroyed... Republicans, you have no solutions... It is hurting so many people.”

Welcome to the resistance, uh...

For what it's worth, the Nobel Peace Prize was decided weeks ago. Trump and his team know that. They know he's not going to get it. But announcing this deal right before the new laureate will be revealed allows him to play a victim and pretend it's rigged.

I think it's great! I also feel bad because my paid subscribers deserve more than the ability to comment, but that's all I got. You just can't make everyone happy, no matter what you do.

This morning, a gentleman sent me an annoyed email because although my blog is free to read and free to subscribe, he was upset that a paid subscription is required to comment on the blog. I don't have paywalls because some folks can't afford them. But that's not enough. Good lord, the entitlement.

"Not least of all: this deal will certainly be exploited by Trump to attempt a further evasion of accountability for his role in a massive sex trafficking operation that targeted children."

Sigh............ I'm trying my best. Sometimes, I forget things in the midst of the avalanche of shit we experience. My profound apologies for not being absolutely perfect in everything I post on a daily basis. I would like to see you try to do this. Fuck.

The New York Yankees are the most valuable MLB franchise. They have the third-highest payroll among MLB teams. They've had their league's most valuable player for three of the past four years.

They have not won a World Series since the year Obama entered the White House.

I am begging every non-trans political writer in the American landscape to reflect on the ongoing attacks on the trans community by this fascist administration. Nothing would make me happier. By all means, please write about it.
Almost like we can get a variety of takes from one event. I am curious as to her thoughts and yours. I really don’t care to hear your thoughts on trans rights, at least not now or in a long form article.
charlotteclymer.bsky.social
Well, Sir, how convenient for you that profanity was at the top of your list in considering that military briefing and not the thousands of trans service members who swore an oath to protecting your constitutional right to that priority.

It must be nice to be so sheltered from all this.
radiofreetom.bsky.social
Because I wanted to write about politicians swearing too much.
charlotteclymer.bsky.social
Mr. Nichols, I would like to believe that 5,000 trans service members being kicked out and insulted by Hegseth in the military briefing you literally summarized in your piece without mentioning them should be a topic we all prefer to tackle. And I wonder why you couldn't do that.

Not everything is about you and the issues you prefer. I have thought, for a long time, that politicians were swearing too much. So I wrote about it.
charlotteclymer.bsky.social
Mr. Nichols, use your words. No one is stopping you from contextualizing why profanity merits an essay like this but not the dehumanizing language against trans people used by the GOP all year. You couldn't even bring yourself to mention transphobia in your summary of Hegseth's military briefing.

I have raised millions for this party. I have done hundreds of events over the years for center-left and moderate Democrats who we needed to win. I have said "yes" every time the DNC or DCCC or DSCC or any given congressional campaign needed something. Do not insult my contributions to this party.
