The user can not die so long as it has access to the Chronos Beetle. The user must drink human blood every day or slowly turn into stone.

The Chronos

A clockwork beetle made by a cursed alchemist. When triggered on a body its metallic legs grab into the flesh of its user and the machine inserts a proboscis which draws blood into the body of a living larva housed in the body of the device.
