According to Genome it went out at 21:25 on BBC1, 1 November 1977, right after the news. BBC2 was showing a new episode of the Goodies (2100-2130) followed by The Water Margin at 2130, and assuming ITV wasn't showing anything actively repulsive at the time I can't where 18 million would come from.

When I was much younger you knew that anyone who wanted to tell you that they didn't own a television was going to be intolerable. These days the same pillocks will tell you they "don't watch television, just iPlayer and Netflix" despite the fact that streaming is still "watching television".

You probably noticed that the bottle bank is also right next to the church, but I don't see anyone who does their recycling on a Sunday getting vaporised by lightning bolts. Maybe there's something in the Gospels about people who make a big public show of how much they're recycling.

I would go to the bottle bank but last time I was there someone had passively-aggressively underlined "Sundays" and "Holidays" on the label outlining the times when it's verboten to dispose of your glass so maybe I'll wait for tomorrow. Or go today anyway as it's outside the posh expensive flats.

I know a lot less than you do about Musk but also hate him (and don’t use the term lightly either) because he’s the poster boy for utter mediocrities who can fake tech skills but have no real feeling for the history and culture of the Internet as anything other than something to strip-mine. 1/2

Ont thing that every journalist on the planet is ignoring - you don't "win" a Nobel Prize. There isn't an open competition or a scoring system or a knockout tournament or anything. Someone is *awarded* a Nobel Prize. It's a form of recognition. You don't say someone's "won" a knighthood.
