Having a rewatch of THE LONDON NOBODY KNOWS (1967) and apparently these are the "good old days" that Reform UK are pining for a return to. Swinging London, with white people in charge and immigrants who knew their place! Paradise on Earth! Grinding poverty! Meths drinkers! Ruined, defeated faces!

You probably noticed that the bottle bank is also right next to the church, but I don't see anyone who does their recycling on a Sunday getting vaporised by lightning bolts. Maybe there's something in the Gospels about people who make a big public show of how much they're recycling.

I would go to the bottle bank but last time I was there someone had passively-aggressively underlined "Sundays" and "Holidays" on the label outlining the times when it's verboten to dispose of your glass so maybe I'll wait for tomorrow. Or go today anyway as it's outside the posh expensive flats.

There have been SO MANY of these wankers, bullshitting their way into positions of authority to make vast amounts of money which they then deploy like a weapon in their attempts to win the adoration they think they deserve by exploiting things they never invented and can’t ever understand. 2/2

I know a lot less than you do about Musk but also hate him (and don’t use the term lightly either) because he’s the poster boy for utter mediocrities who can fake tech skills but have no real feeling for the history and culture of the Internet as anything other than something to strip-mine. 1/2

A lot like Tron Legacy, then - essentially a two-hour Daft Punk video with some linking dialogue, but that fitted the 2010 zeitgeist pretty well.

The Daleks would be pretty horrified at what they found if they emerged from their time corridor today. “GEN-TRI-FI-CATE! GEN-TRI-FI-CATE!”.

“Troops to Portland still on hold as protest frogs multiply” is the kind of headline that sums up the bizarro alternate universe we seem to have landed in.

Still feeling unreasonably annoyed by this week’s Guardian Blind Date. She gave him 10/10, he had a good time but gave her 8/10 and ”Sure, we’d meet again but as friends”. Hannah seems to have a proper job so maybe that’s a bit intimidating for some men?

Blind date: ‘After too many tepid, app-based dates, outsourcing my love life to a paper is obviously the way to go’
Hannah, 29, a horticulturist, meets Ioan, 28, a freelance consultant

You'd have thought the fact that they're abducting a guy named Miranda would jog something in their addled neurons..

The bit in there about Gandhi is such pure uncut Partridge that Steve Coogan should probably be taking legal advice.

Ah yes - the BTP, that famously overstaffed and resource-rich police force that absolutely has the capacity to do an in-depth investigation every time someone gets their bike nicked from a station.

Ont thing that every journalist on the planet is ignoring - you don't "win" a Nobel Prize. There isn't an open competition or a scoring system or a knockout tournament or anything. Someone is *awarded* a Nobel Prize. It's a form of recognition. You don't say someone's "won" a knighthood.

Watching "Alien" for the first time ever (yes) and all I can say is that Ripley got Jones into the cat carrier *way* too easily.

Is it too late for a Sparks/Public Enemy collaboration?

I love the amount of heavy lifting the word "earns" is forced to do in articles like this.

And technically it's hard to make food look good on film. That wouldn't have saved Saucy Spuds but those meat spreads were lit really badly.

Reminds me of all time favourite top three. I don't know what the British record buying public were smoking that week but I want some

And that's *after* all the food photography specialists have done their thing with the wallpaper paste and paint and so on to make them look good on camera. Either that or the agency couldn't dissuade the client from using the unadorned product itself for the shoot.

Is it just me or can all of these dystopian things be done without actually having ID cards? Maybe that's why he's opposed to them.
