I understood it as the distinction between a simple wound versus permanently killing, and maybe some of the phrasing of particular lines didn’t help other people pick up on that, but I think that distinction totally makes sense. Not like angels would test out killing each other presumably lol

Really? I think the fast pace is very fitting with Charlie, I would say even more so than with Blitz. I think I would consider Hazbin to be struggling more for me personally if the pace didn’t fit with Charlie

strong as Helluva proves itself to be, even in other season 1 episodes. The season is good but messy, whereas I think Hazbin is achieving its potential about as much as it reasonably can in the time it has to work with. Now, obviously, there’s absolutely nothing objective about any of these opinions

None of this is to say I dislike Helluva’s episode, I think CHERUB is the weakest episode of the show and it would be one of the best episodes of other shows if it were part of them instead. It’s just that it isn’t more than a Brandon Rogers’ sketch that’s animated. Perfectly fine, but not as-

I think feels like it has less of a sense of what it wants to be yet. They figure it out once they start getting into season 2, and perhaps you could even say that about the tail end of season 1, but whereas I think Hazbin’s strengths are omnipresent through its episodes, Helluva’s are not

It absolutely could use more meat on its bones but the skeleton is all there, and that’s the most important part. They’re helped a lot by the very nature of musicals being able to do a lot of work in the short amount of time that a song actually covers. Helluva’s first season, on the other hand-

Well here I’m curious what your thoughts are. To me, I think Hazbin has a stronger sense of what it wants to be, which is good for it because it’s able to put everything into that. With only really one minor exception I think they manage to do the minimum for everything they need to

I don’t mind that the Vees aren’t super present I just think it’s weird that it *feels* like they’re being set up for more and they don’t actually do anything yet, because they have a reason for why but they didn’t quite directly address it, just a brief scene where they decide to step back

To be fair, it took a *long* time for Helluva to get to that, and if we only compared the first seasons of each, I think Hazbin is quite a step above the first season of Helluva. So I don’t think they’re fair to compare at all yet

I’m kinder on it my only real complaint is they should’ve done slightly more with the Vees to establish they were choosing to sit back, but I do imagine giving themselves even just a small margin more of minutes to work with will be good

I think they generally work, in large part because they’re very comedic shows, but both would absolutely only benefit from a slower pace even just slightly, so I also get why people might be more annoyed with it. I do think HB has gotten better and seemingly HH will too with its longer episodes

The first two are such Concepts and Ideas movies, like they really needed to work so much harder on the actual story part and just kinda didn’t. Impressive vfx can only do so much to carry nothingburger plots
