Hm. Time dilation is a factor but I *think* he's 21 this year. So alcohol is a possibility.

Don't tell anyone but I forgot Sully's birthday again (it was yesterday).

However he doesn't come into work until tomorrow so I think I'm in the clear as long as I get him something before then.

I'm tickled by the notion of "walking away" from parts of one's identity. Sully's full name is Marcus Bradley O'Sullivan but no one calls him anything but Sully, including himself.

"Marcus" and "Bradley" came from exemplars that I have known. Neither were very sympathetic, hence the walking away.

I've done this for Emmet a thousand times, so I'll explain Sully.

His name was originally Lucas, then Luke (I reused that). Then I cast him as an "outgoing introvert" and very informal. Hence the idea of a last name becoming a nickname (O'Sullivan → Sully).

Sometimes I want the main conflict to peter out anticlimactically and just have these fragments of life left over. Odd slices of a strange new normal.
