Please don't buy into this "Gaza Ceasefire". The Israelis are barbarians and haven't changed their mind about wiping out Palestinians and Arabs. They want Gaza and the West Bank and hellbent on getting it. For them to have agreed, means the Palestinians lost something significant, not in their favor

Shaw led the 54th regiment, the 2nd all Black infantry in the American Civil War. His leadership and the regiment became legendary. They inspired thousands more Black men to enlist for the Union, helping to turn the tide of the war to its ultimate victory. Their story was told in the movie "Glory".

Trust me. I've been on the streets and in the shelters and they aren't places you wanna be, especially if you're a woman. And moreso if you're a man. Men have DIED in shelters here because of fights over stupid shit like a cell phone cord. Or caught sepsis from the unsanitary conditions.

They got caught up in drugs and alcohol and are now strung out addicts roaming the streets of NY. Research to find what's in demand and the pay. You need to make AT LEAST $30/hr. And make sure you know someone here you can crash at if you run into hard times bc these landlords WILL throw you out

I only bring this up because the interview was about homeless people and crackheads on the street. He asked them where they were all from and they were all from somewhere else from around the country from FL to Philly to California. They came here looking for work and things fell through

And what makes it worse is the mixed kids are then abused by the white mom. I know a few people who are products of mixed relationships, and in all cases, their white mothers abused them. In one case their white mom tried to unalive her by putting her in boiling water, scalding her skin permanently

Later that year, he decided to emigrate to Liberia with his wife & daughter after the Dred Scott case denied Black people protections of U.S. citizenship. He was denied a passport.

Thomas Howland, the subject of this unusually expressive portrait, was a dock worker in Providence, Rhode lsland, In 1857 he became the city's first Black elected oficial when he was amed warden of its Third Ward. However, that same year he decided to emigrate to Liberia with his wite and daughter, perhaps in response to the recent Supreme Court decision in the Dred Scott case that denied African Americans the protections of U.S. citizenship. Because of this decision, Howland's application for a passport was denied, despite his status as a free man with the right to vote in his home state (he did eventually make it to Liberia). Howland's confident posture echoes that of the earlier Portrait of a Gentleman shown nearby, the fashionable attire of both sitters serving to reinforce thelir self-possession.
