Western ‘liberal democracies’ aren’t real democracies once you actually study how they function. Power is concentrated in the capitalist ruling classes, corporations, and unelected institutions, and not the people. Voting is only just an illusion to make the working masses feel like they can choose.

Got a neighbour who changes mobile phones every two years. I guess that's all normal in our western capitalist culture of waste, convenience, and mindless consumerism. So last week, he was talking about how he really wants a new phone. Mind you, his current one was bought a year and half ago.
