Incorrect. This increase in premiums is due to the "Big Beautiful Bill" not extending enhanced ACA subsidies.
Yeah, it was no bargain even at $333/month.

600,000 South Carolinians—small business owners, young families, people nearing retirement—face soaring Obamacare premiums in weeks.

Many already live paycheck to paycheck.

Republicans must join Democrats to protect their care and reopen the government.
600,000 in S.C. face huge health insurance spikes - Statehouse
A government program that more than 600,000 South Carolinians rely on for health insurance remains at the center of the federal shutdown that began Oct. 1. It shows no signs of being resolved soon.

We are enjoyin' the #goldenhour with the Bubs. 😁
It's basically a catastrophic plan at this point.
My wife is fluent in Spanish, I can muddle my way through. "Pensioners visa" is a topic of discussion in our family in regards to Central and South American countries. Definitely an option for us. We were thinking about it before this all happened, so we're considering it even more seriously now. 😁
The deductibles and out of pocket maxes are...not great.
My wife and I. 2 of us.
Thanks so much. Therapy and support from fam and friends is why I'm still here. 🥰😁
Here's the same letter we received in October, 2024 regarding 2025's premiums. You'll notice the difference from this year's letter.
The Big Beautiful Bill did away with the enhanced ACA subsidies. So at our current income,as I understand it, there will be no financial assistance for us.
And sadly and ironically, many, like my Dad, choose suicide because they don't want to be a burden. Never realizing they are doing exactly what they were trying to avoid.
My wife hits 65 at the end of this year, so Medicare for her as of 1/1/2026, and I just started a new gig that has health bennies (exactly why I got the gig) and I'll be eligible for those bennies as of 1/1/2026. So we just might escape disaster. Millions won't be as fortunate.
My Dad died by suicide about 10.5 years ago. I found him. Please reconsider. And please stay. Please. The world needs you.
That's an appropriate expectation. It won't be 700% more, but everyone is gonna be eatin' some shit, regardless of where they get their health insurance.
This pic is the same communication I receieved in October, 2024 regarding 2025's plan and premiums. The original estimated monthly premium for this year (2025) was $396, but come January of 2025 it was down a bit to $333.79.
Yup. Doubt my income is gonna increase 700%. 🤣
These deductible/out-of-pocket max numbers are about the same from this year to 2026.
