U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina's 6th Congressional District.
Forty years ago today, the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded shortly after launch. One of the seven on board was my dear friend, Ronald McNair.

As a child in Lake City, South Carolina, Ronald was barred from checking out science books at his segregated local library.

Trump’s FBI just raided an election office in Atlanta over 2020 election files.

ICE is ripping apart our communities, millions are losing health care, and tariffs are increasing costs.

And Trump is still focused on his 2020 stolen election lies.

The action comes after Trump promised that individuals would be prosecuted “soon” related to the 2020 presidential election.

No public official should face violence.

It is shameful President Trump has minimized the seriousness of this attack and continued his hateful rhetoric toward Rep. Ilhan Omar — we know that political violence is no isolated event.

Just 39% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of immigration.

58% say ICE has gone too far.

Americans want immigration enforcement that prioritizes violent criminals, not indiscriminate militarized crackdowns that sweep up American citizens.

Bovino leaving Minneapolis is not enough. The American people want concrete reforms to ICE and CBP that put an end to their lawless conduct that is taking American lives and sowing chaos in our communities.

Gregory Bovino, a public face of Trump's immigration crackdown, is losing his "commander" title as border czar Tom Homan and CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott head to Minneapolis, sources say.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, I’m reminded of the 1946 poem written by Lutheran Pastor Martin Niemöller. He writes:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a socialist.

This couldn't be further from the truth.

Americans are seeing ICE and CBP terrorize cities and conduct themselves against the direction of local law enforcement and elected officials.

Alex Pretti’s death is a result of that blatant disregard by the Trump administration, and it must end.

The footage coming out of Minnesota is outrageous.

The violence unleashing in this country is a direct result of Trump and his reckless Administration. These masked, armed, and untrained agents are inflicting real pain on our communities. Their presence isn’t making Americans safer.

Enough.
Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a person in Minneapolis on Saturday morning, according to local and federal officials. The shooting prompted a clash between the authorities and protesters who gathered at the scene. Follow live updates. www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01...

A masked ICE agent grabbed a 5-year-old off the street in Minnesota and used him as bait.

Detaining children isn’t making Americans safer.

This is cruelty beyond the pale.
A viral image of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos shows the boy standing with a blank stare in a blue knit hat with white bunny ears.

Liam and his father were captured by ICE officers in Minnesota. School officials say that the child was used “as bait” by ICE.

It was outrageous enough when Trump pardoned the January 6 rioters a year ago. Now some of them are seeking and receiving refunds of the financial penalties they paid—some totaling millions of taxpayer dollars.
At least eight Jan. 6 defendants are pursuing refunds of the financial penalties paid as part of their sentences, according to a Post review of court records.

Others are filing civil lawsuits against the government seeking millions of dollars.

Last year, President Donald Trump pardoned almost 1,600 people charged in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection. Now many of them might get money back from the government.

So far this term, Trump has pardoned criminals ordered to pay $298 million in fines and restitution. The total under his recent predecessors was a miniscule fraction of that.

Trump is fighting for his rich cronies—with taxpayers and victims potentially paying the price.

Yesterday Trump said ICE was just “looking to get the criminals out right now.” In reality,
they’re going after people based on skin color, even off-duty police.

There are proper ways to enforce immigration laws. What ICE is doing now is making Americans less safe.
ICE targeted off-duty police officers in Twin Cities, local police say
The police chief of one Minneapolis suburb said all of the officers who had been stopped there by Immigration and Customs Enforcement were people of color.

The same administration that made the largest cut to SNAP is telling you it’s fine—just eat cheap food.

Billionaires get tax breaks. Everyone else gets told to budget.

The Trump Administration’s plan to address affordability challenges is to pretend they don’t exist.
Brooke Rollins is still at it!

"We had run almost 1,000 simulations, and between $3 and $4 is a fair number if you can have access to that food. I just saw new numbers that were run: a full day, meaning 3 full square meals and a snack, is about $15.64."

57 years ago today, Shirley Chisholm became the 1st Black woman sworn into Congress.

Shirley was never scared to stand up for what she believed in and fought tirelessly to ensure everyone could participate in our democracy.

Let’s honor Shirley’s legacy by continuing her fight.

It’s been one year since Trump took office a second time.

I remember the days when American presidents were interested in helping Americans.

Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

And every year around this time, I like to read Dr. King’s Letter from the Birmingham City Jail.

In that letter, Dr. King writes “More and more I feel that the people of ill will have used time much more effectively than have the people of good will.”

The facts speak for themselves.

58% of Americans think Trump's first term in office is a failure, and they're right.

His tariffs have raised costs, he’s blocked extension of ACA tax credits, and he’s given massive tax breaks to billionaires.

With Trump, we’re going backward.

According to a new report, 33 of the January 6 rioters Trump pardoned on his first day in office have since been charged, arrested, or convicted of new crimes.

Trump is happy to put criminals back on our streets so long as they are loyal to him.
