The frozen yogurt of people: Fine, but no one's first choice. Film person/aspiring filmmaker. @Burtonesque89 on Letterboxd. I blather on about movies and SNL and Futurama/The Simpsons and the Tim Burton oeuvre, and there's very little else to me.

IIIIIT'S 50! Time to start sharing the #SNL lists/rankings I've been assembling, starting with TOP 50 SHORT FILMS/CARTOONS/MUSIC VIDEOS. Tomorrow (I hope), TOP 50 LIVE SKETCHES. More to come after that. Further lists will be dropped as replies to this post.

Check this out, I'm about to be very ME and a week+ too late with this one:

Whoever your Role Model is, THIS is the only "Sally" 𝐼 care about this time of year.
But that second one...what if he interrupts a sketch that's NOT even the cold open? If it's, like, 20 minutes later, THAT'S GREAT AND FRESH, RIGHT?!"

Me being a bit broken while a certain sketch was in progress:
I look forward to a high-sodium show.
You may know that Kenan Thompson does some singing-and-dancing before each live #SNL, with a couple of the ladies in the current cast as back-up singers. But did you know that his ORIGINAL back-up singers there...were Imogene Coca and Mae Questel? TV HISTORY, folks!
Okay, my last post - until my next one - about stuff I'm catching up on or rewatching from the Sabrina Carpenter #SNL: Taking another look at "Plans," it's...fine. It serves its relatability purpose without doing much as a comedy piece, to me - but good expression from Sabrina at the end.
I missed 99% of this on Sat. - technical difficulty on my end - so catching up to it now...a pleasant surprise, this one! I got a kick out of the Dawn Lazarus-ian drivel that Sabrina got to play with, as well as the dummy business, even the gaffe near the end. #SNL

I hate that I've done the "THIS is better than so much of what MADE the last episode!" bit as many times as I have...but...that bit again. This isn't grrreat, but JAJ has a character figured out, the timing's there, particulars are funny, and...he gets a NAME! #SNL

If we get an Oscars where CONAN is hosting - which he is - and a movie with JIM DOWNEY in the cast wins Best Picture - as some reeeally believe ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER will - I'm going to lose my mind, and in a GOOD way for once.
I see I'm not the only one who'd had that thought.

I'd have lost a bet if I were into that sort of thing.
Folks, I don't have many nice things to say about this episode, but...then there's Ashley Padilla. I didn't find this latest fart-centric sketch particularly 𝑔𝑜𝑜𝑑 overall, but the way that she played out and held onto the discomfort & distress of that first one...She's got something special!
In case it's worth saying: I've taken to the asterisks when I type out his name not out of "don't say it" timidity but because (I) the *** lessens the chances of my comments being found by...those I might not want to engage with, and (II) I just got sick of saying/typing his name.
Posting screenshots of Tr*** - and any of his cabal - sucks here like it sucked on the last place. We can none of us bury our heads in the sands, but still...I'm trying to AVOID THAT.
Hi, are you older than 11? Then you SHOULD NOT WANT TO TALK LIKE A 12-YEAR-OLD. That slang is not for you. You will be irrelevant SO soon, if not already!

#SNL #ButAGeneralThingToo
If Ashley Padilla is the power player I hope she is/becomes #SNL in the years to come...then she will not be "taking over" the show. The greats that she's brought to my mind - Gasteyer, Hooks, Curtin - didn't "take over" SNL and weren't about that, they were too good as actors for that.
I spent that episode either basically checking out or muting/ACTUALLY checking out when I didn't have tech issues that had me missing 99% of one sketch and glitching during others. So I gotta give second go-arouunds with some things. But I did not have a good time with this #SNL. Ah well.
Well, okay, that Herlihy piece there...I liked it! That was fun and clever and pointless and I'm glad they made time for it! #SNL
Which I don't hate! (Betty Boop's original voice, Mae Questel, by the way, in CHRISTMAS VACATION alongside a few SNL alums...I find it a fun connection!)
I went from saying a dispirited "Noooo..." at being greeted to another 3-5 minutes of fart jokes to being really taken by the way that Padilla dug into & *held onto* the discomfort, the distress, of...said fart. The sketch overall felt more rambling than I'd prefer, but she can PLAY a moment. #SNL
I talked about the teacher sketch with Bad Bunny from the premiere as something with "not much there" that Ashley Padilla reeeeally elevated...Now, THAT looks like a masterpiece compared to what just finished, but...she almost did some hero's work there... (TBC) #SNL
And of course I post a quip about Higgins right before anther ever-so-SURPRISING reveal that, "IT WAS A COMMERCIAL?! HUHWHAAAAA?"

#SNL
Higgins, I hear you...and I need you to hand it over. You may get it back after class. (IYKYK) #SNL
Man, "Washer/Dryer Combo" almost had me, I was trying to lock onto its wavelength...and then it lost me, and I didn't really find a special wavelength, but a somewhat shambolic assembly of "but it shouldn't say THAT!"/"I'm onboard, let's enjoy the tune!" #SNL stuff. I don't know.
Alright, I liked most of Tommy's material - not the smoothest segues from one beat to another or the most cohesion, but I'm fine waving that sort of thing away - and he's off to a decent start. #SNL
Appreciate the energy from Jost on the "fall foliage" joke.

You think Che calls him "bud" a lot?

Anyway, NEW KID!
