Watch with wonder as I mainly post about movies, giant Japanese superheroes, and art/commission stuff!

Thinking back to last night, I'm always in the search for that nostalgic childhood feeling of discovering something weird and forbidden on TV at 3am. I get that every year with Justin's marathon and this is the one this year. Genuinely unsettling and creepy stuff!

MOVIE #15 - You want to watch an "animated" horror manga adaptation made on a computer in the 90s? OF COURSE YOU DO. Feast your rotting eyes on YUMEJI TANIMA’S SCREAM THEATER (1999)

I don't know if you've watched any other ones in this series but Lizard Baby is a lot of fun.

MOVIE #8 - What if we re-edited a movie down to its bare bones and inserted scenes from anime adaptations as if it were part of the same series? Well, that would be GUYVER: HYPER DARK HERO MEGAMIX.

Some RAD stuff happening on @declouxj.bsky.social's marathon right now.

Love that most of my posts consist of one or more of the following subjects:
-movies
-tokusatsu
-muscles

It's a thing of beauty if I ever find a way to make all three into one thing. I like to think I have a lot of depth. 🥸

A blood-splattery action picture from Takanori Tsujimoto, who has gone on to direct a whole bunch of Ultraman stuff in the past decade! I'm locked the heck in.

Movie #3: Who wants some splatter action filmmaking with a meditative bent? It's HARD REVENGE MILLY (2008)

I used to live within a 5-10 minute walk from this location when I lived in college too. But to be fair, I doubt I'd have appreciated it then like I would now.

Speaking of Pittsburgh (re: my earlier post), WTF, why does all the nice stuff happen after I leave the area??? >:C

You'll know there's no such thing as a good billionaire because none of them have bought the mall themselves to restore it to its 70s glory and then turn into a museum.

I somehow haven't learned my lesson with Amazon but this might be my moment, haha.

I guess they gotta pinch those pennies so they can afford their generic name change. Meanwhile, they also don't produce enough copies for everyone that pre-ordered it, lol.

Pretty bummed that, in the decade of me living in Pittsburgh, I only went there once and I didn't actually explore the mall. I might need to consider checking it out when I visit the area before it's gone forever. 😭

Amazon: "Hey, that Ultraman Blu-ray you pre-ordered came out this week."
Me: "Oh, awesome, when do you think you'll be getting it to me?"
Amazon: "LMAO ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but thanks for shopping!"

But I have to ask, did you and any coworkers get to race?

I have so much work to do this evening.
The work:

Story of my Family!!! is a bit of a strange Covid-era dramedy with some fun wrestling elements but mostly about traditional Noh acting. Similarly, Tiger and Dragon features rakugo storytelling with a very Kazuma Kiryu-coded yakuza main character.

Genuinely one of the biggest surprises of Justin's marathon from last year. Plus it was an introduction for me to the same creative team behind these two Japanese shows I started watching on Netflix recently that I'd wholeheartedly recommend. 💪

If it's anything old-school tokusatsu-related, I'm there 1000%, baby. 😎

I became aware that applications for the Namahage festival open in a couple months and now I'm once again planning hypothetical trip scenarios online for something I'm not even certain I'll be able to attend.
