“Regardless if the POV from these memes is from a hip person, or a nerd, these sentiments bleed insecurity. Alex Evertech thinks he’s so cool, but he’s not entirely, yet reaping the rewards. Yet the POV asserts that they are above Alex. More succinctly, memetic strawmen such as Alex are inventions of furries who are now DOING the cringing that they simultaneously assert is dead. They fear being cringed at in spite of their newfound legitimacy and visibility, and aesthetic/linguistic motifs of this kind are manufacturing consent for a new kind of internal discrimination, one that fears jankiness and awkwardness. Furries are no longer socially considered losers in public, most of the time, but they carry the trauma of being in that position beforehand. For precisely this reason, this alienates people from others, and limits their ability to engage intimately and earnestly with others, despite overtly seeking it.
