Just finished reading Ethan Kross's new book, Shift, on how to manage your emotions effectively. It's great - readable, practical, comprehensive, human. I've drawn on his work a lot over the years, and if you have ever enjoyed my writing about resilience I'm sure you'll love this.
If you're interested in #leadership, I recommend following @helenbevan.bsky.social - she posts very thoughtfully on what it takes to transform an organization's effectiveness, based on evidence and experience (e.g. her note below sharing fieldwork on rituals in teams) #LeadershipResearch
"Team rituals" are regular activities/practices, eg huddles, team lunches, check-ins, celebrations. New research shows teams with more rituals have more engagement, psychological safety, knowledge & job satisfaction, leading to higher productivity/performance: lnkd.in/eXNNvP-G Art: lnkd.in/e_XmBeg9

Belated thanks for this Tara, so glad my book has been a good companion to you - you have made my day!
While working on my next book one of the very best things I've discovered is SciSpace, the AI research platform. It has been a total delight (no hallucinations!) and everyone I've shown it to has loved it as well. I am not on commission, I promise, just... enthusiastic and grateful. typeset.io

It's an excellent time of year to show some gratitude to anyone who has made 2024 a little better for you. Here's @pilitaclark.bsky.social in the @financialtimes.com with some stats on why praise matters so much in the workplace: on.ft.com/4ftJh1Z. Thank you for reading! (See what I did there...)

If you're a change leader of any type, do check it out - it's excellent. With thanks to @mhallsworth.bsky.social et al!
Their work helped a generation of change architects and leaders understand the power of making a proposed behavior change feel Easy, Attractive, Social, and Timely (and they helped me write Chapter 15 of How to Have a Good Day, for which I will be forever grateful).

Oh my goodness. Daniel Kahneman has died. I am so grateful for his life and his work - it has shaped so much of what I do, and shaped so much of how we all think about human behavior. RIP and thank you.
